mfd upgrade

getting fed up with the boost guage on my mfd (standard r34 gtr) keep flashing every time i use my abbey stage 1 conversion to its fullest

from what i see the only way around this is to fit the upgrade mfd with goes up to a higher boost value, i also believe this would also give me the extra couple of readings plus the g meter.

1) is the above correct? would i gain the g meter as well?
2) is the correct upgrade part the one listed here from nengun

3) my car is a 1999 non vspec r34 gtr, which of the two mfd shown on the above page do i require and does it come with all sensors and bits etc to get it all working

The Nismo MFD V2 will unlock the G-Meter, a lap timer, boost gauge up to 1.0bar, water/oil temps start at 50 degrees celsius instead of 70 on the stock MFD. You are also able to download data to your laptop via a RS232 cable and software.

Also on non V-Spec models, this will unlock the exhaust temperature and inlet temperature.

I would say you need 2371B-RSR48 kit

i assume you meant boost guage up to 2.0 bar? as the one i have now does 1.2 bar as it is.

Apparently the 2bar boost can be enabled on the std mfd if put into service mode but I cant find the code to do it. A new boost sensor is also required.

Yes i've heard that before, and you can buy the boost sensor seperately from Nismo. I have the part number if anyone is interested, but you would need the unlock code, which unofrtunately i don't have

hmmm. toss up between the mfd and cusco adjustable links front and rear. must admit i do fancy the mfd but the idea of getting my suspension and geometry really well set up is quite appealling as well

shame i am not rich

Just picked up this old thread re: the MFD boost gauge. Does anyone have any info on unlocking the R34GTR VSpev boost guage in service mode to read 2.0bar instead of 1.2 bar and the part number for the upgraded sensor.

Hi, My name is Aaron. I have just signed up.

I would just like to say I don’t like seeing wrong info being posted so I thought I better add what I know.

You don’t need the Nismo MFD V2 kit to get the intake and exhaust sensors showing, also you can get the TV function working without the TV button.

To get the extra sensors working first you need to buy them and hook them up then enter “Diagnostic mode” what is being called service mode.
The exhaust temp sensor part number is 22630LA.

To enter Diagnostic mode:
1: Turn ignition to off
2: While pressing and holding the MFD joystick in, turn the ignition to on (and start the car)
3: After opening screen (GTR logo) has appeared on the screen for more than 1 second release the joystick.
4: Within 3 seconds after the GTR logo has appeared on the screen press the joystick 5 times

Then you should see the list of all 15 sensors.

6: Turn the car off after all sensors have been registered to exit this mode (important: if you exit this mode before all sensors have been verified they will not work in the normal mode) The car needs to be on a fairly level surface for this to work or the G-sensors might not be registered.

This info is taken from page EL-32 of the R34 GTR service manual supplement.

If you are trying to get the exhaust sensor reading working you will need to warm up the car first as it states on the next page of the service manual the exhaust temp sensor must be at 400C or more / 4.9V reading.

To get to the TV mode you need to add a momentary switch between the wires 5 and 7 behind the screen. To remove the screen from the main unit unscrew the four 4 screws that hold it on ( 2 either side) Don’t take it off too fast or you could disconnect the white connector strips, it doesn’t matter if you disconnect them but iff you accidentally yank them out you may damage something.
Below the two whit connector strips there are 13 wires for memory, the first one is white and the rest are blue count from the white to the 5th ant the 7th and join cables to them to a switch wherever you want.
Pressing the button once will enter TV mode, Pressing it again will exit it
You need to connect a NTSC video signal (yellow RCA cable, no different to red or white) to the White connector at the back of the main unit. The number positions are as follows:
1 2 3 4 5 - - 6 7 8 9 10 11
12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24

Connect the outer part of the cable (signal ground) to 16 and the signal wire to 17.
I’m not sure if you will have to if you car came with the MFD stock, but in order for me to get this working as I add the MFD to my car I had to ground wires 6 and 24 with the main ground wires 13 and 14.

If anyone wants to hook up an MFD but doesn’t have to original wiring with connectors I believe the part number is: 24036AA301 should be about $200 trade price. Don’t quote me on this as this part number brings up a description of “audio harness” on nissans systems, but they showed me the pictures of where it sits in the dash and I believe it is the right part, I will let you guys know as soon as I receive it.
Nissan make harnesses to order so they said I could be waiting a while for this.

Obviously the number number positions haven shown up correctly.
17 and 18 are below the clip and 24 is below 11. Just for verification this is looking at the connector from the back ( the wires in front of you with the connector further away)

Damm that was painful typina all that, im not a very good typer.
