Kit for a White Car

Hi Alex

Could you recommend a kit for me, I have a white 32, some panels are a little shoddy (discolouration, scratches, staining etc), used clay bars in the past and was very happy with the results. Budget is around the £50 - £60 mark.

Many Thanks

Jon

Hi Jon,

Sorry for the late reply... Been one manic day!

Okay, let me know if you need things like shampoo, wash mitts etc, or whether it is just the paint side of things you want.

Ideally for white I'd say go for a Sonus clay bar and a bottle of detailer, Poorboy's Spray & Wipe is ideal and has mild cleaning ability so they match up well.

A mild polish just to help bring up the shine a bit as well... Poorboys SSR 2 or Prima Swirl are diminishing abrasives that break down under pressure and are fine for use by hand. They won't leave the surface dull or marred but, nice and shiny ready for a wax or sealant. You won't have to use a product like this all the time, just when you feel like the car needs it or you have the time.

For the 'top coat' on white, my fave is Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection. It's a sealant (synthetic wax), so will last a little longer than most waxes, is very easy to use, and gives a very bright, reflective finish ideal for white where you can't easily get a deep, glossy finish that people with dark colour cars get easily. Sealants are a bit more durable temperature wise as well so theres no reason why you can't do the same clya/polish and sealing with your wheels either.... It will make them nice and shiny, and easier to keep clean in future.
A couple of applicators and a couple of microfibre cloths and you'll be set for the paint. Just let me know any other areas that you feel need attention, and I can get something sorted and get you a price within the budget given .

Cheers.
Alex.

Hi alex
Im after something to get a nice deep shine out of my white car too.
But have you got anything to bring the paint up nice and smooth as I have some paint over spray mainly on the front end not a lot but I can feel it. Thanks to the spray shop next door spraying out side but didnt really want to mop it they did offer.

Hi Blaster,

A claybar should do the trick.... You use a spray detailer such as Poorboys Spray + Wipe as a lubricant, spray it on a small section, and then gently rub the claybar over the paint, which collects all the little bits of cr*p that stick on the paint.... Just keep kneading the barso you work with a clean surface.

As for the kit.... It's generally quite hard to get a deep shine out of white and colours like silver, so generally you go for products as reflective as possible to get a real bright 'bling' shine. Thats what I recommended Jon above and he went for.
If you wanted to try and get a deeper shine, then you have to go over to a carnauba wax and a cleanser rather than what I recommended above with a mild abrasive and a sealant. You can still use a mild abrasive if you have marks to get rid of but, if the paint is in generally good nick, I'd go for a cleanser instead, which will mildly chemically clean, and enhance the shine before waxing. Not something you have to use all the time, just when you want to.
A good cleanser would be Clearkote Red Moose Glaze folled by Clearkote Carnauba Moose Wax. This will give a deep shine and is normally something that would be recommended for a solid black to make the paint look as deep as possible and works really well. An alternative would be Poorboys Polish with Carnauba BLUE, followed by Poorboys Natty's Paste Wax BLUE. These two will give a slightly wetter appearance rather than the deepest shine but, look really good for the wet look finish.

Hope that helps.... Pm me if you want any prices etc .
Cheers.
