"the" World Cup

1)
Okay, apart from the fact it IS NOT "the world cup" it is in fact one of many world cups and is for one sport only. So will all those people please stop asuming it is the only sport in the world!

2)
If England are playing I agree it might make the schedules - sorry to our Scottish and Welsh and Irish counterparts forced to suffer the prejudices of a predominantly English-run BBC. But event then, do we rally have to watch Trinidad v Sweden or Korea v Togo, and all the rest of them?

Good grief!

Roll on July the 9th/10th or whatever it is!

Nope. It's only gays that play the game.
A bunch of overpaid, undereducated puffs.

So, if you were offered that amount money because you were talented at what you did, you'd turn it down ?

education isn't everything, being able represent your country at the worlds favorite game would be far more rewarding than a few A levels

It's not the money or the pride with which people play. The same for any sport I guess.

It's the fact that the whole world of football and broadcast assumes everyone loves the game and wants to watch endless amounts of it! Yes there is the off switch, yes there are other channels. But, to be honest the alternatives are limited.

And it's the sheer arrogance. "the" world cup. As if no other sport matters

Thumbs down

I may watch the England games, I always support any home countries interest in any sports but in general I find the big business of football (it CANNOT be described as a sport any longer) distasteful. The players are overpaid prima donnas who behave abysmally.

If they talked to a rugby referee in the same manner they would be sent off instantly.

Don't even start me on diving and professional fouls!!!!

And their off pitch behaviour sets a very poor model for the younger generations who idolise them.

And NO I am NOT gay.

God FFS, you non footie fans whining about the world cup remind me very much of the people who, on real hot lush warm days, say 'its too hot'
It's not too hot you fat sweaty cow, and there can never be enough football on the telly during the world cup - don't like it? - go to some flower arranging lessons...
