I picked this game up on saturday (the American version)
It is the most incredible game I have played in years, there isnt a PC game in existence that would even touch this for graphics or plain atmosphere.
Is it up to all the hype; the answer is YES. It truly is a 'killer app' among titles
like Halo on Xbox, Metal Gear solid on playstation.. ....you get the picture.
I have been playing it around my parents house on their 37" HDTV and it is the most stunning game I have ever seen.
Controls are simple to pick up, gameplay is very nicely thought out and very enjoyable, it has clearly been well tested as it just works so well.
Its essentially a 3rd person shooter, not the sort you can just run in guns blazing - taking cover is essential. It has the best gun fight system I have experienced in a game so far it is just a very nicely polished product.
Music is predator-esque and fantastic, providing the perfect backdrop for what are EPIC battles.
Story is superb, there is far less cut scenes etc. than Halo or MGS but you are still left dying for more when you finish the game.
I will say afaik there is not another game in existence that looks so beautiful and has no slow down even in high definition 1280x1024, it truly is 'next gen', even the most powerful PC's havent got anything on the books that can even compare to this baby.
The beautiful backdrops, fantastic and massive detail really give an atmosphere that I have not experienced in a game before.
My only criticism is that the game is a little too short in 1p mode (about 10 hours play time) although I have already started playing it through again on the next difficulty level. Its partially a squad based game which means you can play a cooperative mode through the 'campaign' (1p story) with a mate either split screen or over the net. I cant wait to do this.
So in clonclusion, if you like games at all, especially any that involve epic stories, huge amounts of action and firing big guns (1 has a chainsaw bayonet for melee
) then just go out and buy this game.
Its released in the UK on the 17th I think. If you dont own a 360 then go and buy one, if you dont have the money then sell your grandma, it really is that good.
