Totally agree with you Sean, i still find it strange to think that the 3 Nurs that originally came into the country all had engine transplants.

I'm glad Mark has taken the link off his advert what with all the thread crapping.
It may not have a Nur engine (Balanced assembly, N1 pistons and a pair of N1Turbines in short) oh and some gold cam covers, which as nice as it was, was never designed with SERIOUS power in mind (ie. the pistons can't handle more than 1.4bar and in standard form suffer from oil starvation). It's still a Nur in every other respect which means it's from the last batch of R34's made, has the gold chassis plaque, Nur badging and Black interior and in spirit still embodies the epitome of the BNR34 which is ultimately what having a Nur is all about, it's not just a badge. The only R34 to better the Nur is the Z-Tune, and in all respects, this car is closer to a Z-Tune than anything else; it looks like a Z-tune (Z1), it goes like a Z-Tune, it's an RB28 like the Z-Tune, and it has a whole load of Nismo gear on it (Clutch, Bodykit, Carbon bonnet, Suspension etc. etc.) like the Z-Tune as well as additional kit that the Z-Tune doesn't have. It can handle 900bhp+ which the Z-Tune can't, and it can run anything from 500-900bhp with very little spent on it to personalise it further. The hard work is done, If I'd have kept it I would have put V-Cam and the larger T04Z turbine housing, a carbon prop and had it mapped on an airstrip to finish it off. What Mark doesn't list on the advert (as it wasn't on my original ad) is the music system which went with the car, I don't know if its included. Basically there is another 5k of top end sounds on a subtle install if it is. It's not a vulgar uncouth 'Tunerz' syle car, it's been tastefully done and retains driveability and balance which needs to be driven or experienced to appreciate, the acceleration is brutal and it puts down virtually every one of its horses with a bit of squirm on max boost to keep you alert. It's been tuned more in the spirit of Mines/Nismo philosophy with a slightly wilder Top Secret slant and as such it is simply a fantastic drivers car, tuned for the road with comfortable and perfectly tuned road suspension with the potential to take it in any direction. I would have it back with no hesitations if it wasn't for all the housework I'm having done. The price may be steep, but really, where will you find another car like it? For all those who don't like the R35 and prefer a late 34 it's a perfect car. It's condition is absolutely as new. You could eat your breakfast off the engine bay and the car doesn't have one stone chip on it (not when I sold it anyway and with 600miles I doubt its any different!) With regards to the price, I had 7 people seriously interested in this when I sold it. Mark was the first to view and after a passenger ride, agreed to the sale for the full price there and then. To the right person, cost is simply not an issue and is amazing value for money as a plaything, one that combines everyday useability in all aspects from a comfort point of view to its four seats and makes a great track car with all the creature comforts - its quite a rare combination. I'd love to see what time this could put out at the Ring in competent hands! If you consider how easy it is to spend 25k on a tuned car which buys you a third of the spec on this, it's not hard to justify the price. At the end of the day, it's only 25k dearer than a stock Nur at 43k. It's low mileage at 25,600 miles and has been pampered all its life. My 2p ![]() If you're reading, Good luck with the sale Mark. Regards Nito

Sean,
I'm trying to get your point; Is having a 2002 Nur that is specced close to a Z-Tune with 650+Bhp a negative thing? Personally I don't feel it 'diminishes' the car in anyway, I can appreciate a purist may be offended by such 'sacrilege' but if that's the case there are plenty of unmodified examples about (in Japan anyway - Maybe ) but it's not what this car is about. I must say I found the comment odd coming from you given that you also owned an extremely nicely modified R34, one of the nicest around.Hodgie, I'm glad you've put it to good use, it's a cracking circuit engine now that it's lost its 'Nurness' with a big F-Off Trust baffled sump, HKS cams/Metal gasket, Tomei Pulleys, APEXi ECU, Nismo Injectors, AFM's, increased boost!! As someone once said to me, why buy the Pinnacle of Skyline ownership when it'll get destroyed by any tuned Skyline - which probably accounts for about 90% of them. To buy a 'Nur' and leave it at 280bhp would be crazy. Even by untapping the potential as Hodgies engine above and addressing its weaknesses is removing it from its original state and would involve removing the engine from the car, so why not go the whole hog and give it some teeth! It's probably for this reason that none of the original UK Nurs have remained stock! With regards to the Ferrari comment, I was actually offered a straight swap with a Ferrari 360 Modena when I was selling, the chap also commented that it might be easier to sell. Needless to say the Nur went on its first viewing and the Ferrari was lingering for months later! Anyway, each to their own. Nito

Incidentally,
Our website has gone down and been removed as the pics and video have exceeded our monthly bandwidth quota due to the amount of hits it's had in the last couple of days!!! Someone likes it! I'm off to sack myself now ![]()

Sean,
Feel free to say what you like, It's not my thread anymore and you're entitled to your opinion. I was just offering my point of view on the matter. I appreciate and accept the Sacrilege view point, that said, in reality, I wonder how many people on here, if they had a Nur, would realistically keep it at 280bhp? Personally, I like to start of with the best base possible. 'I' don't think its fair to say its lost its rareness and believe it retains its Nur 'halo' effect. It has always remained loyal to the factory look and if anything is rarer than ever. It's only beneath the bonnet where no-one sees, that its radically different. I'm one for the subtle approach, I love factory looking cars that have a suprise under the bonnet. If it wasn't a Nur, it probably would have looked quite different as I wouldn't have remained faithful to the concept. Everything fitted externally was factory (bar the Mines wing mirrors ).Anyway, thankyou for taking the time to explain yourself, you're one of the members on here that I've always respected and it says more about you that you did. Cheers Nito

What sort of premium did a NUR originally attract?
I probably don't know enough to comment (but has that ever stopped anyone before ), but the 68K price tag did make me go ! There just doesn't seem to be enough to set a NUR apart from the std R34 that would justify an asking price so much higher than the rest of the market. As for the value of a 2.8 in there, when I was looking for a 34, I was offered 2 low mileage, very high spec 2.8's for little more, and often quite a bit less than the asking price various 2.6's here on the forum. They didn't have NUR on the boot, but it's hard to imagine how they could be worth 30-40K less than this car... I suppose if I had money to burn, and I had to have a NUR... but if I had money to burn, I'd have to have something really special...like a z-tune! |

Bern,
I would say that the premium has more to do with the end specification than purely the fact it's a Nur. If you look at page one and carefully read the spec list you'll see that there is a massive investment gone into it. Nevertheless a Nur probably attracts maybe 15K+ over an equivalent stock car, it's not just a Nur, it's a V-Spec II (which in themselves attracts a premium) and it's a 2002 model year and hence the very last of the breed, in fact it was the last Skyline you could buy from new. The price is academic, of course it's only worth what someone is prepared to pay, I would say that this version will resist succumbing to market forces better than the regular models but time will tell. If you were going to embark on tuning your own car to a similar spec, it would be far more economical to buy one that is done, (as anyone on here who has tuned their own to this degree will testify to) the fact this one has only done 3,500 miles on its Brand new Top Secret engine means it should have plenty of miles left in it yet. Regards Nito

Sure its a lovely car, one I would definetely like for myself... ...but its DREAM LAND to want £68,000 for it, the mods really dont increase the value by that incredible amount, if they did we would start seeing nova's for sale for £30,000!

I'm not defending the price Ant,
It's not my perogative to, it is what it is. Nobody really questioned the price at the time I sold it on this website, and I didn't have any problems with regards to serious interest in the car and serious potential buyers. Thankfully I didn't have one timewaster with the car, not even daft emails. Of course it is 18 months on and the new GTR is out, how much of an impact it has on price who knows, obviously he's trying to get whatever he can, and although time has gone by, it's only done 600 miles, but he's a sensible guy and I'm sure anyone who's seriously interested in it can negotiate with him on that. There were plenty of people mocking the price on other Forums when I sold it, and it went for the full asking price, so to the right person who appreciates the full spec it's worth what its worth. There are some very good value 34's at the moment and there is no doubt they've taken a hit judging on how long they're taking to sell. I have to say that the market interested in mine were not really your typical Japcar owners, it was more exotica types -looking for an expendable shitter -Joke.![]()
