New afm's
I have just put some new air flow meters on my 32 GTR as i thought i had fixed my old ones but i had further probs. Now the car wont even tick over. It cuts out as soon as it fires up.
Is it likely that the afm's are off the wrong model (33, 34?) or am i missing something? Yes they are both plugged in. Now im getting rather tense ![]() |

is it possible to put the wrong sensor on each induction pipe? Or are they both the same. Was thinking of swapping them round!??
Found the problem, they only have 4 pins, mine have 5 so they must be the wrong one's. Sorry for boring everyone lol. Last edited by GTR Jon; 16th August 2006 at 12:36 PM. |

I'm sure the standard GTR afm's have 4 pins, are your ones 70mm or 80mm(rb25 ones and Z32 afaik)
Check the code. Z32 - 22680-30P00 RB25 - 22680-02U00 RB26 - 22680-05U00 Nismo - 22680-RR580 That's the best i can come up with mate, sorry. Charlie. Edited to add Nismo are 70mm as well. Last edited by chas; 16th August 2006 at 04:03 PM. |

Yeah just checked and they are both the 05U00 (new and old), the sticker on mine is a bit different and has JECX in big letters at the bottom and the new set dont. Looking at the wires there only seems to be 4 but there are def 5 pins on each!? It def wont run with the new ones either though they are in better condition than mine??
Anyone have any ideas? |

Need more info to help you solve it mate.
What happens if you refit the old AFMs? What lead you to change them in the first place? Are they NEW parts or USED parts? What else have you changed at the same time (no matter how small)...have you cleaned anything, swapped something? etc etc? Have you cleaned or changed your filters at the same time? Does it struggle to idle until you give it some gas? Black smoke out of the back? I/C hoses been disturbed or disconnected? Vacuum hoses off? Ian

I think i've solved it, one of the new (second hand) one's is duff. I changed them as when mine get hot after a bit of driving the car gets lumpy, loses power and cuts out. I did not touch or change anything else. I've just tried swapping one at a time and i've found the working one. Trouble is i now have to find which one of mine is duff as it only happens after a bit of driving about.
What a chew im having already! Its only been on the road 7 days!! |

Ha ha...nice work.
well in my experience, whenever i'm in this situation i look long and hard at the two electronic parts in question. This is what happens... I notice that Part A is the cleaner I notice that Part A is newer I notice that Part A has zero flaws Fit Part A.... Part A turns out to be naff Fit Part B..... All sorted. Every bast@rd time. I hate electronics, no logic like good old bearings and mechanical things! Ha ha! Good luck! Ian
