have just rebuilt me rb20det, its running superb but ive jus noticed a slight whinning noise coming from the engine bay? could it be a bad earth or the altenator? also im getting a new battery 2moro kas i have to jump the car its dat fecked, could it be the bad battery? any knowledge on this matter is much apreciated!!!!!

Yep, Check your belt tension, including timing belt

Best way to check timing belt in this case is to remove all the other belts and run the engine.

I think mine whines a bit..

if it changes pitch when you rev the car its either a belt too tight or the belt needs to bed in.

Spraying WD40 on it, like the muppet down the road from me , wont work.
