Hi Dennis, not sure about Kent but Abbey Motorsport are in Oxted, GT ART are in Brighton and RK Tuning and a couple of others IIRC are in Essex. I warn you now though, the words 'Sensibly Priced' and 'GTR' invariably DO NOT go together . All things being equal I would take it to a specialist (even though they are often more expensive per hour than Back Street Motors) as, being experienced, will probably find the problem quicker. Perversely, this could actually work out cheaper E.G 2 hours (specialist) @ £80/Hour versus 3 hours (non-specialist) @ £60/Hour.

Hope this helps a bit. Good luck with junior when it comes

TT

Go to RK he is a specialist in skylines and charges about £45 per hour, why spend over the odds?

I agree with with white R32, RK is very reasonable and very knowledgable. Not Kent but not that far either.

I actually have an issue with this particular job..

I think, an experienced outfit could do the job in around 5 hours.. it took my mate who's the mechanic at a Subaru garage 7 hours, first time he'd ever undertaken swapping Skyline turbo's.

Someone who's done the job many times, and knows the ins and outs could, theoretically get it done in 5 hours max

£45 per hour multiplied by 5 hours doesnt make £450 plus VAT that some places are asking

And apparently £450 is cheap to do this job..

Do certain places up the labour costs on a job such as this because its a bit of a b*stard?

£45 per hour labour should mean just that IMO, regardless of what the job is.
