I have heard that there are several technics to spray a car in to chrome . . . I am not an expert, but have seen few and all looked dull with many matt zones in the paint job.
The Supra looks clean . . .has anyone sprayed with chrome-color?

I saw that supra at totbv as well. Had a rainbow effect laquer on it too but very subtle It did look ok but i think the point of chrome is to stand out from other bits i.e. have something to contrast again. I got a chromed coilpack cover and cam covers on my 33GTR but thats it wouldnt chrome the whole engine bay as it needs some darker areas to contrast against and draw attention to the engine, IMHO. But hey we are all human and different!

I head the same thing that it was illegal for road use due to dazzling other drivers.. probably even if it was dark LOL!. The paint isnt too expensive at £43 + vat per litre compared with some flip paints. ITs actaully rage chrome if anyone interested have a look at these links on the paint and how to prep it, which by the way is where the time and cost come in.

The first post R34 looks alot like Craig Liebermans old car that was used in 2F2F.

Jamie Shaws R5GTT was the first chrome painted car in Europe I believe - the first one ever was a BMW M3 in the STates from memory. Doesnt look too bad in the flesh, but this is going back 4 years or more now, so I cant recall precisely.

It is not an photoshop, it was the car from Craig Liebermann also used in 2F2F. The car was only painted that way for the Sema show. When the show was over they painted it back in the original bayside blue colour

It most definitely is a Photoshopped picture - I've seen the original photograph and the car is black.

The car was black at first i know for sure hence why they called it the Blackbird. Then it was done up for 2F2F as mentioned in the silver & blue. But that was the last i saw of it. Looking at it you can see some black there actually, looks like it is photoshop.

That's not the same finish as the GTR posted. Not even close.

I don't know if the GTR posted is photoshopped or not, but it's certainly not covered with the same finish as "fiddy's" Murcielago..........

I know that because I've just been through 3 months of hell trying to get my new BTCC style Civic Type R completed in the same finish !!!

The M3 is done with a special bit of kit made by the same company that made the finish on my Civic. Mine is called Mirror chrome and it's laid over black as others have suggested. The M3 was done with Chrome effects which is a proprietry finish using special equipment to put it onto the car, not sprayed like Mirrachrome is.

I think in the right place, they all look awesome............... The full bling bling chrome is a bit full on for me, which is why we dulled mine down a bit, but even though it looks really reflective, it doesn't reflect direct light like headlights any worse than any other silver paint so it's not illegal here to have it..............gives the effect without the downsides.

I think the full chrome effects job would probably reflect like mad, but not the mirrachrome I used.

He he....sounds like a blast. So do you have shares in a specific tyre manufacturer? That little delivery van must shred through rubber faster than a drift car

No way mate........... it's got sooooo much grip I've been gob smacked at how it gets it to the ground.........totally disspells all the myths I thought were true of front wheel drive. Just for the record 235x35x18s on it all round..... widened the track of the car by 110mm. Am changing suspension and uprights to DC5 ones as they're naturally wider so it'll help reset the suspension back to ideal setup. Using wider offset rims will work as we've done, but I want it to handle well too.....

I have widened the rubber a little from factory, but even factory setup was mad..........certainly on a lot of little NZ roads it's as quick as the GTR for sure..........huge corner speed.

That chrome finish is bloody expensive and bloody fiddly to get right.........we didn't get it right, but got close.......too expensive to keep trying !!
