many years ago i worked for a company called f+m dobsons (fizz bombs).
the owner fred dobson sent a mini to rolls royce,it was fully trimmed by them and had the famous radiator with a flying lady on top. he owned 2 rollers and changed them every year. i so wish i had some photos to show everyone, alas it was in 1986.

The Suzuki Swift GTi engine fits under the standard round-nose Mini
100ish bhp from the box. Plus.... .... Suzuki made the 1.2 Swift 4x4. But the 1.2 block was different to the 1.3 so wouldn't fit the GTi 1.3 block. However, Subaru bought the manufacturing rights to the Swift in 1996 (IIRC) to use it as the base for the Subaru Justy. The Justy was a 1.3 4x4 and as Subaru wanted a 1.3 instead of the previous Suzuki 1.2, they used the 1.3 block and adapted the gearbox to fit. So (in a nutshell) the Swift GTi 16v 1.3 engine fits under the factory Mini bonnet, and the Subaru Justy 4x4 drivetrain fits the Swift GTi 16v 1.3 engine. Sooooo it's possible to build a 1.3 16v 4x4 Mini. The 1.3 16v is fairly tuneable and a variety of turbo, super and nitrous charging has been tried and tested. Plus the engine quite likes bike carbs (so long as a decent ignition solution is sourced). So I'm just wondering how a Swift 1.3-engined Mini on bike carbs and a simple wet nitrous setup and running the 4x4 drivetrain would compare to a 1.8 ITR-engined FWD Mini round a track? Interesting - you see a helluva lot of innovation in the Mini community and some amazing cars ![]()

When I was a nipper (i.e. too young to remember) my old man had a CRAZY ex hot-rod mini (dad made it road legal). I have part of the spec somewhere (which I'll try and find), basically revved to something stupid like 13k and was dynoed at Ricardo's at 228hp at the front wheels. Looked like a piece of sh1t though - but that's what the old man loved about it ... crappy looking brown mini .. but went like f*** !
