Thumbs up Ooooooooh yeah :D

Now this'll probably seem completely mundane to some people....

I've had a stinking hangover all day. Went out to a networking event last night organised by one of our big corporate clients. Lovely bunch of people and what was supposed to be a 6-8/9pm event with a few drinkies ended up with a few of us staying out a wee bit later (I got home at 3am). No tea, buckets of champagne then 3 or 4 lagers to finish it off. Then 3am until 5.30am was spent curled up in bed, sweating profusely with a rolling stomach, spinning room and sweating like a pig

Anyway, suffice to say that despite the 2 pints of water for breakfast with a black coffee chaser and a paracetamol or two on top, I've been feeling pretty cack all day long.

Now most people will know that mankind is bi-polar when it comes to hangovers and food. Some people with a hangover can't stand the thought of anything to eat whatsoever. Others become ravenously hungry and would quite happily eat the ar5e out of a cold, dead hippo. I fall into the latter category. Me man. Me hungry. Ug.

So I'm starving. I'm sat here, lunch is a distant memory much like the building of the pyramids or Joan Collins actually being pretty. My stomach's growling at just about everything like a rabid pitbull.

And my other half, the love of my life, my very significant other has just called. And what did this sweetheart, this gorgeous, adorable woman tell me?

"I know you're not feeling so great so I've got us a DVD out to watch and I'm making you a big Cottage Pie, with pickled onions, mushy peas, buttered cabbage, lashings of gravy and a big crusty French loaf." What a simply perfect woman

I have to stop now. My keyboard's squelching with a couple of liters of drool... Mmmmmmmmm.................

That's up there with my big-time favourites for comfort food. It ranks alongside lasagne, bangers'n'mash and the monster 1" thick bacon butty drenched in HP sauce.

So it just got me wondering - what's everyone else's favourite comfort nosh then?

Mine has to be lasagna - As big a helping as possible

My GF has her own special dish called splodge. It involves mashed potato, a tin of tomatoes and grated cheddar mushed up together. It always brings a smile to her face (which is the whole point really)

Y'see, to me one of the prerequisites of comfort food is the ability to eat it just using a fork - ideally so you can curl up on the sofa, bowl in one hand, fork in the other. So although I simply adore the fry up, Snowfiend, I couldn't class it as comfort food

Bajie - I'll bottle some just for you mate

Cheese on toast with beans on top. Gotta eat it while it's really really hot.

Another favourite is just pasta with a mushroom sauce with plenty of fried bacon mixed in. Lovely. Mmmmmm!
