40 years ago everyone thought these odd little cars and radios (with such unfamiliar names as 'Honda' and 'Sony') coming in from Japan were crap too.
Can you see our kids or grandkids going spastic over tuning their Chinese cars and insisting on genuine Chinese parts, versus that "Nigerian crap" :P
I think the most telling thing was when I used to work for The North Face, in San Francisco. We outsourced 90% of manufacturing to China, and only certain, really specialty items were made in-house. I remember a guy bitching about it, remembering the good old days when everything was made in a local factory. My workshop was adjacent to the main sewing room for all US-made product. The room was, to a person, filled with Chinese women, happily chatting along in Chinese.
Whether they're paid cheap Chinese wages or high American wages, the stuff's all Chinese made anyways :P
