R34 MFD not working
Searched around and could not find an answer. My friend has a R34 and the MFD screen is all black, nothing displays. Took it to Nissan ad they said the screen was bad. Is there something else than can be fixed or trouble shoot? I know at dealerships they would rather replace an item like that than fix it. They put a flash light to it and could see the display very faintly. Has anyone ever encountered this before or have any suggestions what can be done before putting up the cash for a new one? Thanks in advance.

I would say,if all connectors are fine,it is a faulty screen, like they say

Ok, fuse appears to be blown but the problem is that it is soldered in place.
Is there a way around this or does this have to go to an electrician that knows how to solder, I cannot do that to save my life. |

Why is the fuse soldered in place?
I have a portable soldering iron I can bring tonight, not sure if it has any butane in it, but if it does, we can try to fix it. Bring a good fuse to replace the bad one.

Hmm. Looks like it's been modified once already. I wonder why?

Update:
Under the advice from a friend, I went to KSP, a tuner nearby, and had them look at it. And they said they could not fix it and to try Nissan or perhaps the maker of this screen, which is Sharp. So, off to Nissan I went. After showing them what I needed, I got the big X with the hands - NO! ![]() They said they would not touch it with a 3.048 meter ( 10 foot ) pole. So, perhaps I need to take it so some sort of electrician to have sorted out. Any other bright ideas out there? |

I have no MFD nor R34, but I'd replace the fuse with a socket for normal automotive fuses. For someone familiar with a soldering iron this should be a 2 minute job
I'd do it for you, but distance slightly forbids this ![]() Marc

I think that means a trip to SuperAutobacs, Paul.
Another thought would be to take a piece of wire and bridge the gap across the fuse, but if the underlying problem is severe, this could lead to overheating and further damage, so...I don't recommend it. Then why mention it? Would save someone the trouble of soldering out and soldering in a new fuse. If someone has a voltmeter, this would be useful me thinks.
