very true gavman. too give you guys an idea of how effective double declutch is, for example if you wanted it would be possible to be doing 80 mph in 4th and by the above method and a very heavy rev in between you could select 2nd with no crunching whatsoever. now i know the box would blow up if you let the clutch out, but if you tried the same thing but this time just pressed the clutch once and then tried to select 2nd you would hear the most almighty grinding noise ever. thats the principle reason for the above. you bring the next gear down upto the correct revs so that when you release the clutch the revs are already at the right speed..bernie
