I'm a 32 year old corporate professional and yes, it's a different culture here as you suspected. Street racing is frowned up here as well by society as a whole but nowhere near to the extent as our friends overseas, based on the feedback I'm getting here.

personally, I've gone to the drag strip as much as twice a week in my stealth

and I also autox the EVO

most of us go to the Drag Strip to get a piece of paper that tells us exactly how quick/fast we are, then we go to the street to do the real racing. Some of the guys place bets etc... I don't though.

Funny analogy, both are wrong but one is just plain sick

I read a few pages of that thread until it started sounding like a nagging wife, I had to bail... sorry

I have a big problem with street racing - you shouldn't gamble with other peoples lives, and that's ultimately what you're doing if you do this on the road.

Other people who are just driving along minding their own business are not prepared for situations where 2 or more people are tearing it up near them. Whilst some people might be able to remain calm, others might freeze, take evasive action (into your path) or otherwise behave in a strange way.

Speeding is one thing - most if not all people do it when it's appropriate to do so. I don't doubt that many people who buy Skylines don't do so simply because they look good.... that said, street racing is something completely different.

Street racing posts are seriously frowned upon on here as they not only give Skyline owners in general a bad reputation, but the Police are more than capable of reading the forum (as has been proven in the past with other forums) and would I'm sure take a very dim view of the administration appearing to support street racing.

Stick to the strip or trackdays if you want to race other drivers.

This is why we choose abandoned locations and or only street race with people I invited. There were no Skylines involved in the video either.

Put it this way, the large majority of people associated with this forum don't really like or condone street racing, because of things that can or have happened.
Now despite your username, you don't sound like a total mellon to me [yet] - So with that in mind best keep your threads about street racing all to yourself to save any further animosity being shown, or Google away to a forum that does like street racing.

Sure everyone here likes to put their foot down now and again but if it does happen on the public road you’ll rarely read about it on here in anything other than a bad light.

Keep it on a track dude

Cheers,

D.

Basic description.....

Street racing is ILLEGAL!

Promoting this act on a open forum is not only STUPID but also not a great advert for the forum.

Got it? Good.

I'm puzzled, if the Moderators dislike street racing so much why is it that there's no rule against posting it here? Does the owner or some other moderators/admins do a little street racing behind the scenes?

I'll do my best to refrain from posting street racing videos here. I visit many forums and I might forget the unwritten rules here, so please don't jump my case too bad if I forget... I assure you it will not be intentional.

thats the thing stupid, maybe you're stupid enough to put your own and your friends live at risk, but you forget the other people to. what if a family comes home late night from having dinner somewhere, and the kid crosses the road, as 'no one drives at this hour'.

what if some drunken guy crosses the road.

you wont see them. neither will they be quick enough to run across the road away from some street racing idiots.

however, i myself wouldnt be that worried about street racing on a industrial road...if you can safely lock it and you're sure no one is there who might be at risk, then i guess im ok with it.

I guess the bottom line is we don't condone it.

The GTR Register is the official conduit for the GTR Owners Club. As a result, as a legally recognised entity who is subject to the rules and laws of motorsport organisations, the affiliation of the club with illegal activities is frowned upon for obvious reasons.

Personally, I prefer to rape French roads.

I ain't an active member of the forum or even the club, but love this place as this is a great source of info about Skylines & stuff, you'll often find knowledgeable folks in here
Sorry to say that you are "polluting", if you know what I mean
Or maybe that's just a culture difference where you guys in the US where you think street racing is cool & the rest of the world think the opposite
Just out of curiosity (no honnest), how old are you & why don't you guys do track day & stuff?

Im from the states and it can be hard to find a track here, also most street racing is done after 12AM on empty highways or un-driven roads (many of which the street racers block off) I don’t agree with street racing but he was doing it in an empty area and did not appear to be putting the public in danger and far be it from me to tell him he can't kill himself street racing. When street racing happens it almost can be an “event” here.

i think they mean most if not all GTR members here wont go out and street race. if they did, they wouldnt film it and they certainly wont put it on an OPEN forum.

you dont ever know what will happen on an open road. A grandpa driving with his lights out, someone crossing the street...
