What do I need to do first
I want to upgrade the internals on my turbo. Can anybody please advise me on what I need to do first e.g. would it be to change the fuel pump first or injectors or fit an inter cooler or can I just change the internals from ceramic to steel without doing any of the above.

You should be able to just change the internals of the turbos, everything else is fine for upto 450 ish bhp

From your username I gues you have a GTSt - is that a RB25DET or RB20DET, it makes a difference. On the RB25DET the injectors and AFM should be good for up to about 350ish, you need to think about management to get the best out of any re-worked turbo. Simon

Okay - first of all do a search, this sort of stuff has been covered lots
![]() then we need a bit more information. What year is the car what mods are already in place what do you want from the car ultimately what sort of budget do you have I would say in general first get a good service done, change the fuel filter, give the throttle body a good clean, new sparkplugs and make sure everything is working as it should, then sort out your breathing, (intake, exhaust, de-cat) after that I'd do sensible maintenance mods like fuel pump, grounding kit, boost controller. At this point I would then think about doing the turbo elbow, downpipe, FMIC and possibly an ECU to take advantage of the current state of tune. If it is an early RB25DET you might get away with running a bit more boost than the later ones, up to you if the risk is worth it though. once you get to this stage you have the basic grounding for changing the turbo either with a direct replacment (my recomendation) or a reworked standard turbo. at this point you perhaps start to run into injector, AFM and clutch limits, beyond this point you need to start looking at things like headgaskets and internals. Simon

Dave,
You need to know what you after out of your car at the end of the day. i.e. track? drag? or just a fast road car? What's your budget? Is the car currently standard? We can advise from there, but as Simon says, do a sreach. There will be loads of information on here. Andy.

You may want to think about an oil cooler if you intend on taking it on track and a bigger sump if you are going to do a lot of track work
