what's your timepiece?

for the past couple years, I've been wearing Buddhist beads (I am Zen Buddhist) on my wrist, in a sense to remind myself, every time I look at my wrist for the time, that time is infinite and infinitesimal.

Anyways, beyond all that, it looks like I need to get a watch. Recently promoted, I've now got to look the part, and not only does that mean silk ties, cufflinks, and all that crap, but a decent watch as well. I used to be into late 80's Gerald Genta, but I acquired those in my previous marriage, and with the divorce I got rid of them as they reminded me of my idiot ex-wife (plus I got religion).

What're you guys sporting for watches? I obviously need to get a feel for something automotively/mechanically inclined. Tag Heuer seems obvious but maybe a bit below what I'm looking for. Bell and Ross? Panerai? I'm not ready to invest in a complicated watch (like Ulysse Nardin), as I've already got a complex sensitive touchy and fragile machine - my GTR! And Breitling dials give me epileptic seizures if I look at them for more than two seconds....

I'd fancy a Sky Moon Tourbillon, but highly doubt I'd pass the purchase interview, even if I did have the coin to pick it up :P

I have bought all of these watches in KL, and many more top names besides, funny how the price is hundreds of times cheaper than the RRP, do you think there may be something wrong ??

The one and only instantly recognisable Rolex says it all, to everyone.
If the sports range is too O.T.T. go for the Datejust with a nice face, something non- standard.
I have one with an oyster dial, apparently they are hand painted and no two are the same. I have never seen another one.

Tissot

They are tied to MotoGP, so there is your sporting. I like the new touch face designs they have, and may pick one up eventually.

if you can afford a Rolex you know a fake a mile off.

for Rolex and just about everything else.
if you can't find somthing here, I don't know where you will.

I'm seriously looking at a Tag Heuer Monaco Sixty Nine. Nice bit of kit - I never really liked the JLC flip-faces, but it looks pretty good with the Tag.

But if I can track down a Panerai GMT/Alarm, that might do it as well.

Black faced stainless daytona is far from dated looking imo, then again I am biassed
Good luck getting one these days though, everywhere seems to have 4 year waiting lists thanks to Rolex only releasing a few at a time to keep demand high. Sucks but thankfully managed to beat the queues
They aren't the best timekeepers in the world admittedly, but good enough for me.
Breitling's I've got 2 of, love them but in my opinion they're a bit too flash for every day use, and rather frustratingly they're just too chunky to sit nicely under a shirt.
For every day use I've got an Omega Speedmaster which I'm confident will outlast any other watch in my collection, possible exception of a Seiko kinetic which has been through hell and still looks and works fine. Slightly different watches though.

Watches are a hugely personal thing though, so it's hard to recommend anyone a watch, even by brand. Can't go wrong with Omega though.
Tag's are a bit gimmicky imo, used to be something to lust after years ago but everyone seems to have them these days.
Great timekeepers though apparantly.
