Car bomb, in an area with the most CCTVs in London, found by an ambulance, "quickly" dealt with and removed, no injuries...

I'm not saying or suggesting anything, but this make you think...

Good that there is praise for anyone, usually all people try to do is blame.

As for the bomb, fair doo's, I wouldn't want to be sat next to it but its a bit basic innit? low explosives are for kids.

Is funny about the publicity thing. I wouldn't put it past these corrupt f**ks.

works both ways

such a simple device can be knocked up quickly, cheaply, and need never detonate

the disruption alone feeds the cause

Well, true but you need to remember that the IRA targetted infrastructure, not people (generally).

They were about causing massive disruption in order to make a bigger political footprint.

What you're looking at here is a considerable device that will make little damage to infrastructure but will be lethal to as many people as possible. Ironically, the detonation of this device at a generic 'leaving time' for local clubs would have caused an extreme degree of injury and loss of life/limb, but little physical effect on the area's infrastructure.

What disturbs me the most is that at least the IRA had a political channel through which communication could occur (after a fashion). They were about making themselves heard. If this IS a radical extremist attack then it's derived from an organisation that has no interest in discourse - it just wants to kill people because it sees them as inferior.

I'll add to my previous post that I personally don't think that this was religiously motivated. I suspect that the guilty party were hidden nearby, just waiting for a traffic warden to ticket the car...

Hmmm, well i personally don't think any types of explosives are for kids, but i could stand corrected!!

And secondly, why is it low tech? You would still have to make and use a detonation device. More over you will find any plastic explosives extremely hard to get hold of and easily traceable if you do manage to get hold of em, and seeming as the use of hydrogen peroxide and fertilizer for bomb making has been widely publicized then it would probably not go unnoticed when you tried buying this in bulk. Now think how easy it would be to B&Q it (thanks for the pun Mook) by buying some gas canisters and a load of petrol, pretty much the same effect and not as traceable!!!

See terrorists have brains to you know.......well to a certain extent anyway, i agree with the already stated presumption that the area would be covered in CCTV and they will already have a idea and description of who it is

Interesting point in the reports

Regarding vapour seen within the vehicle after it's driver 'parked' it after "driving erratically" and then ran off.

Somebody thought he was about to get shredded by his own nasty handiwork, maybe?

Vicious trend, switching from solid blast to fragmentation.

Well eskimo's are not English, so I'm supprised you have not blamed them yet

Guess you can't remember that the London nail bomber used a similar device - guess what, he was ENGLISH.

Exactly. Technically all terrorists actually have to do is have lengthy conversations about bomb making on land lines in mass and that would absolutely cripple the security services. They couldn't even be prosecuted for it.

If only we could go back a few years. I'm not sure how many. I guess it depends on how complicated you want to make it.

Perfect example of how Britain is going down the pan.

Back in my day, all these boms would have gone off cos we had proper engineering, nowadays these kids just throw em together.

they simply don't make bombs like they used to.

Tiger Tiger is usually full of Middle Eastern and Indian sub-continental people, someone has just informed me.

If this is true, then it could M on M... an attempt to hit 'corrupt' or non-practising Muslims to gain the moral high-ground among non-committed Muslims throughout the world, as in "Look! We are the pure-hearted faithful, doing Allah's will for him on earth!"

The real battle is after all, a propaganda battle for certain radical and utterly ruthless leadership elements (not mentioning Al Qaeda here!) to gain control over the hearts and minds of more disaffected Muslim youth to fill the dwindling ranks.

Not 100% sure, of that. Admittedly it’s been a while since I've been there, but that particular Tiger Tiger on Haymarket used to be a regular Friday night hang out after work for us. (My office was New Zealand House which is opposite-ish the club) - although it was always absolutely brimming with people, so the reports of how busy it would have been when the bomb was supposed to go off I can imagine aren't that far off. But I do see your point
