I've owned tuned broke repaired rebuilt and tuned again a lot of JZ's, M engines, RB engines, UZ engines, SR engines. And there is no 'best' engine. All engines have their good points and their weak points. If it comes to RB v.s. JZ, then the JZ is definately better from factory but both engines can be tuned with the appropriate forged materials to very good levels.
If you look further, you'll find the 2UZ and 3UZ (vvti) engines which are very good (also forged materials needed) and the S2000 head design is just so freaking good. Then the Audi V8 engines (twin turbos) are very very potential as well.
