having run through this today, to beat one under 1/8 of a mile, I estimate one needs:

1) dead-perfect launch skills, as good as a computer.
2) about 800bhp of turbo kicking in and staying within that powerband to make a solid pass.

It's not impossible, but it requires a lot of power to overcome crappy GT-R aerodynamics, a serious boost kick (or nitrous hit), and most of all, skill. Launch control has gotten very good on several modern cars. We may pooh-pooh it as non-purist, but the fact is that it'll beat a manual shifter and the best clutchwork off the line. The Enzo driver merely needs to engage the LC button, then floor it and hang on. Sad, but true.
