There are many examples of JDMs performing just as well as expensive exotics.

You guys may or may not remember the EVO 8 FQ400... only with 400bhp, was compared to the Zonda. And it was couple of years ago so please no abuse saying im totally wrong, but in the comparison, it accelerated faster and if not mistaken, i think it was either faster or only a few seconds slower around the nurburing (exucse spelling).

Also the example in top gear where even with Stig at the wheel, it was again faster or a few sec off the lambo murcielago that has wider tires, more power, bigger brakes, wider track etc... And with clarkson was pretty even against that pro touring car driver. Sorry about the memory, but my point is that way cheaper JDMs are very capable cars around the track. That FQ400 costs quite a bit, but any tuner in NZ i know for sure can get a normal EVO8 performaning jst as well for alot cheaper.

I have no doubt that a modded R34 GTR will be faster in straight line as well as around the track. And prob not even a crazy modded one either...
