I Like My Tein SuperStreets with EDFC.
Car is at the moment a 100% street car....But will be doing some track days soon, and with the EDFC I can dial them up for it.
I had the basic Bilstiens on before these.....And the Teins are much better through the big bumps and ugly potholes we have in ChCh!

Are the Tein Superstreets good for track use as well as being survivable on the roads?

hm, can't edit.

Refining that question:
Car is mostly used as a track toy. Track would be Nordschleife, so pretty demanding. However, should be able to be driven on the road with decency, i.e. leave my spine intact, every other weekend or so during the summer.

Can the Tein be set up to allow that compromise; or can you adjust without great effort to allow both distinc setups?

If so, what would be the correct one to get, specifically?

I'm very grateful for help.

my aragostas would be perfect for your proposed useage

spring rate:
fr 7.2
rear 5.8

the best road/track compromise for about £1500- you wouldn't want to go any stiffer on the road
(i know, i've tried. these are my fifth different set of coilovers, searching for the best setup. any stiffer and braking, grip, turn-in and general roadholding really suffers on our bumpy uk roads)

they've replaced nismo's R-tune coilovers, and are also the lightest coilovers i've ever handled

i got mine through RB motorsport, i'm sure they're widely available

Mate, please be aware the Nurburgring will be the same as driving on roads (only very quickly)...it is uneven has lots of caber changes and is far from Tsukuba smoothness.

I had HKS hipermax...they were hard and poorly made...one developed a leak very easily after only 8 months ish of use on Brit roads. I then got some ATTKD circuit tune (also HKS) and they were even harder! would have been great on Tsukuba or another similarly smooth track but for roads no way.

I'm now using Tein Superstreets and they are awesome, a great compromise. They are stiff enough for non-competition track work and can be made soft enough for the street. If you want a good solution for both I say don't go with anything that has hard springs...unless you're an all out tracker they will be crap on our roads, causing uneven braking and steering and lack of traction at the rear.

A stiff spring does not automatically = better handling. If you get something like the Tein SS or at the most Flex you can turn them down for street then turn them up on track and pair them with a nice uprated set of sway bars (ARBs) to reduce your body roll on the track (DO NOT use springs to do this). As has been mentioned, one mans suspension heaven is another man's suspension hell but think carefully before spending your cash.

I don't want to sound like a Tein fanboy lol but other units mentioned cannot be serviced and rebuilt over here, and if they're anything like HKS in build quality that's something to note (Wonder why HKS Europe don't support or supply HKS suspension?)

Also as far as I know I wouldn't lump Nismo S-tunes in with all the other units mentioned as they are non adjustable height wise. Basically they consist of a harder lowered spring (non-progressive?) on an uprated shock. I'm not sure whether the shock is even adjustable, I think it is preloaded for the application - pricey for what they offer but they are supposed to be pretty good so if you have the cash then maybe.

Cheers

it's important to note the spring ratings differ between R32s, R33s and R34s, for the same make of suspension.

I have tein superstreet, more than stiff enough for UK roads.

regarding the nismo s-tunes, they are adjustable

the HA version are also height adjustable

they are fantastic bits of kit, very well made and offer a very good ride quality compromise, with the emphasis on a comfortable, OE-type ride
the stiffest setting on these units is about as hard as you can go and still be able to play cd's, which gives you an idea of what they're aiming for

highly recomended for 85% of drivers

.....and completely different to nismo R-tunes

ps
Aragostas CAN be serviced in the uk- i checked before i bought

Ohlins on my car at the moment, the best i've felt. HKS were very hard and developed a rattle, Tein felt a bit cheap.

Holy Thread Resurrection!

To be honest, suspension have moved on A LOT since 2007.
You can not get very high performance suspension at a fraction of the cost from 4 years ago.

Not to mention, the preference of the auto tuning industry have changed a lot also.
