Silly really.... We are now talking about a GTR that is going to be 60k brand new and many more in numbers that 50 and 1 official dealer in the country.

If I dont get a warranty or some decent local dealer support.... again, they can fak off...

Would be like owning a 60 grand MV Agusta.

If I could let myself spend 70 on a car, it wouldnt be on a Nissan GTR.
Considering what Cem said about his Porsche, how can you know that if you were to spend £70K on a car, you wouldn't like the GTR? Do people really have a problem with the Nissan badge? Or are you worried that, following purchase, dealer support would not be commensurate with the car's cost?

I could care less what the badge says, if it is built well, goes like piss, corners as if on rails, and I enjoy it, then sold. But that's just me.

Funnily enough I've been to that Porsche dealer a couple of times to test drive a couple of cars...didn't buy one! Expensive and lovely cars, but didn't quite grab me.

I've thought long and hard about putting down a deposit on a GTR - and currently have decided not to. 1) because I like to see what I'm buying and 2) it's much better value to buy it after 1 year when Mr Banker buys his latest toy and has taken the biggest depreciation hit.

nissan will do the same, after all you would be p155ed if you just spent 50 to 60k on a car from an autharised dealer, just to see one up for say 45 in an importers.
Just protecting there investment in developing a car, and with the public wanting so much.
the r34 gtr has had a good price kept on it , but latley the have been comeing down at a fare rate of knots latley, due to importers bringing them in now.
You only have to look at the for sale section, to see how much cars have lost value. from r34gtrs to r32gtrs. no mater of condition.
Sorry state of affairs , but thats why it will be done.
I know middlehursts are selling the new gtr, but dont know if any other nissan dealers will be selling them, upto now only middlehursts will be selling them.
but what do i know, its only what i have read, in autocar magazines,
plus taking to middlehursts.
i'd have thought if nissan were so keen to stop grey imports, rather than try and get a piece of paper to stop people exporting from japan, they'd be better deliberately building something into the car which will prevent it from passing SVA rules....or better still, get the GPS system to just shut down the car as soon as it leaves Japan.
Can't be rocket science.

or better still charge us the same price in the uk as they charge in jdm

it's only cos of 'rip off britain' profiteering that there's a price difference to exploit
