Thumbs down Nengun

At the beginning of the year I purchased several Defi gauges from this company with the Defi Link Controller II.

Upon fitting these gauges (I'm a sparky so I know what I am doing) and undertaking subsequent testing they would not work. All the earths, 12v switched and 12v permanents where there just nothing firing up.

I came to the conclusion that it was the controller at fault so I contacted Nengun about sending the unit back for a replacement item which I did to a person called 'Todd'.

This Todd person informed me that once it was ascertained the unit was faulty I would receive a replacement unit, happy with that.

My impatience got the better of me though so I purchased another controller from a UK supplier and low n' behold it worked! So this confirmed my original diagnosis.

It's been over 3 months now and still no contact from this Todd person or Nengun about the controller and despite several e-mails from myself.

It really pisses me off as I've sent a lot of money Nenguns way these last couple of years so how they can just go and treat their customers like this is unreal.

I used to buy loads from nengun, but they just take too long to get stuff. I'll only order stuff from them if I don't need it straightaway (like backup duplicate parts of working parts I already have). RHD Japan is my go-to source at the moment - plus, they're American like me

Ordered a shed load of stuff from RHDJapan only last month, it only took about 2 weeks to arrive from payment which is alright in my book.

Nengun are quite happy to take your money for stuff that they don't have in stock hence the huge waiting times.

I'll not be using them again.

always takes along time from nengun...sure prices are competitive, but depends if you want to wait for a long time.

Yeah, I agree prices are very competitive but I must say a lot of the others are starting to bite at Nengun's heels pricewise. RHDJapan as said above are very good as are OOparts( from my own experience). Also must give Drag and Drift a . ALL deliver faster then Nengun.

I think it pays to shop around. Even a few ££ saved here and there makes a lot of difference especially if you're ordering a lot of bits and pieces. Also check shipping costs as there are differences between suppliers for the same parts.

TT

Simon
I'm pretty sure Nengun is run out of "Todds" bedroom in his spare time.

My dealings with him have been far from perfect, he is very slow, reactive rather than pro-active (he wont tell you there is going to be a delay, unless you email him).

There are always 2 sides to every story

We received Richard`s Defi link controller back with no packing etc just the unit. We asked for the warranty card which Richard has not sent us or has made any attempt so we can make a warranty claim with Defi.

I personally took the control unit to a vehicle I had in storage which has a Defi set up. To remove my controller so I could add Richard`s unit to my vehicle to test to see if it was faulty. I had to personally break my control unit of from the steering column. It now just hangs down from the wires.

Testing Richard`s unit it does not work on my vehicle. I thought without a warranty I should be able to make a claim to Defi. After sending the unit back I was informed that the Richard`s control unit had been possibly opened and one of the orange levers on the side of the control unit had been pressed down. Comparing these leavers to my unit I also found Richard`s unit had been tampered with and not on our behalf.

From what I have be informed from Defi, If I were you I wouldn`t be saying this
"(I'm a sparky so I know what I am doing)"

Without a warranty I cannot get you a new unit and because of your handy installing techniques the warranty would be void anyway.

I have just contacted you via e mail on how to have the unit sent back

Regards
Todd

Shame there is no one that can be bothered to setup shop that gives nengun prices but with good after sales and fast delivery.

Most UK based companies, either here or in Japan are adding huge markups, more often than not its cheaper to buy from the company direct or from USA.

RHD Japan seem to have good prices and their delivery is also very good!
