I agree with R33_GTS-t on the misuse of that word. When you begin to stereotype cars together with a stereotypical view of a perceived type of person, I believe the nature of the argument has fallen to a very low level.

I do agree Andy, that there may well be garages out there that charge what you interpret as a high price. You need to comprehend with the fact that the service being delivered is that of labour, which shares no universally agreed price grading level. If you believe it is too expensive, go elsewhere, or at least attempt to understand why the prices are higher, before you attempt to childishly ruin a companies reputation.

What you are attempting to do here is best left to a standards agency, which you don't appear to be, and neither are we.

i'm happy taking my car to a tuner and paying the little extra tbh. before i took it to gt aRt i took it to a local garage as it was juddering a lot above 3.5K RPM, they thought it had turbo problems :-S. even though i dont have that much knowledge i knew it probably didnt. turned out to be plugs, and now runs fine. they knew exactly what they were doing, and thats where it will go from now on
and tbh, the price wasnt much more than a local garage
they are in business at the end of the day, and are there to make a profit

Oh and Andy, I don't recall NewEra having ever threatened to sue anybody actually..

Also I'm a little disturbed by these comments:-

So your definition of a Chav is someone that has owned a 4 year old Civic type R or an RS turbo or a Golf GTi - Well I'm so glad you can both sit there in your elevated positions - What the Fcuk makes you so special?

Lastly [Adey] are you saying that everyone that decides to tune their Skyline over 600 Brake is a Fcuking Numpty??

I think there is FAR too much generalisation going on, in this thread and it sucks.

Yeah sure, some tuners charge too much, but if that***8217;s your beef, then there are far better ways of making that point, than this sh1tty thread..
Tuners and companies who advertise on here are sellign a service to a punter or a person, not business to business trade, so price should be inclusive of VAT.

You dont go to Tesco or Dixons and get quoted a ex VAT price do you?

Chav= low level person in terms of attitude, manners, education, lives on council estate, etc etc... you know when you see a chav!

ABout the Tuners charging too much, Its always the same people who are first to jump up and down and running to their defence. I have used a Tuner to do my work and was happy with the service and price. BUT!

I am not in bed with any tuners and I dont have loyalties with anyone, so I wont come on here bigging them up saying wow, they are the best in the world, no one compares to them, they are the second coming of jesus, blah blah! Thats just pure ass licking and a lot of it goes on around here!

Tuners never made the Skyline community to what it is today, you can say the community was created by enthusiastic individuals who first imported the cars, R32, R33.

I personally blame some of the first owners of Skylines, they were not poor, they had a good level of disposable income.

The year in 1999, Mr Tuner is interested to get involved in tuning Skylines, Alonge comes Mr Joe, a City Banker who has just imported an R34 in 1999. He goes to Mr Tuner, "I have just brought this R34 Skyline (45K) and I want you to tune it too 600 BHP (full forged engine components and rebuild) and sort out the chassis and brakes, oh and I will give you a blank cheque". Mr Tuner cannot believe his luck and invoices Mr Joe for £30,000. He charges him £100 p/h and put a 50% markup on parts!

He was laughing all the way to the bank. He now thinks hmm that was easy money, and the same thing happens again, and again.. The tuner is so chuffed and has a mission to make friends with these customers in doing so can syphon more cash and business out of them.

As years go by, Skylines become more affordable for the first time its affordable mere mortals with a modest job.

Next scenario, the year is 2006. Mr Smith, a salesman working for Dixons Buy an R33 GTR for 12k. after 2 monts of dricing he blows his turbos. He comes across the forum and ask for advice. Surprise surprise its Mr Joe who is the first to reply, Mr Tuner is the best in the business and will do a great job, tell him Joe sent you"

Mr Smith goes to Mr Tuner, and is quoted £100 p/h for labour and is given a price of £2500 on a set of GTSS turbos (1300 more expensive than Negun) (Mr Smith was thinking to upgrade anyway)

A total cost was invoiced to Mr Smith for over £3500!!

So my point is, people should be wise and fight not to get ripped off, you have a brain and common sense so use it!!

There are people here with more money than sense! Thats a fact!

This is not a bash thread, this has been carefully posted in the Rant section to raise awareness. No individual tuning companies are attacked or named. So for those who are jumping up and down, just relax!
