andreas you are absolutely correct and being far more honest than the donkey arguing with you

a gun in your home is many times more likely to be used on a friend of family member during a dispute than the legendary armed criminal breaking into your home- that is a widely known, widely ignored fact
(that cost marvin gaye his life, shot by his dad during a drunken row)
what is just as indisputeable is that the possibility of the homeowner being armed doesn't prevent the crime- it just ensures it's an armed robbery as opposed to an unarmed burglary

these cretins talking about the impossibility of removing guns from the equation are only certain of the truth of that because they are the same people will oppose any ban on the manufacture of guns (handguns especially)

the 'right' to bear arms is one of the stupidest notions that exists in the modern world and is rightly ridiculed outside of the US, where the 'right not to be shot' is taken more seriously

newsflash
the world is full of idiots
why arm them?

on this very thread are examples (one specifically) of EXACTLY the type of idiot who should never own a gun, but because he's american he has many

the pissed one is the best argument for gun control anyone could make

This in fact would be legal use of a firearm in many cases. If it wasnt, and I was convicted of a crime I would certainly do my time...knowing that I stopped a freak from harming one of our kids!
armed paedophiles are SUCH a big problem

but it's usually a family member doing the kiddy fiddling
so can we expect you to shoot yourself, or should we just arm all children?

or are you just using a barely relevant but emotionally loaded example to scare people into agreement with you?

I think there is also a big difference between the owner ship of guns, which stay 99% of the time locked up in a safe at home (and only get taken out to go to the Gun sports club and back), and carrying a gun around all the time of the day.

My friends here in japan are very wealthy, not to say bloody rich, their house is crap though, but stands out through it`s size in the region, were most people not seem to attribute great importance in the size and looks of their houses (considering the space problems in japan).
So their family is being targeted very often by thieves and strange weirdos (rapists not excluded), so of course , putting my self in to their position, knowing that strange men walk around my house , even entering my garden, would give me some sleepless nights, (considering more that they have two gourgeous daugthers between 14&16.).
I would recomand them to buy a gun and keep it safe at home, japanese thieves most of the time have no fire arms, as thoses japanese kitchen kniefs cut very well trough human flesh.

You're already doing better than some of the cretins on here who spent 10+ years learning English in school.

Thomas Hamilton in the 90's when hand guns were legal had a licence and his pistols were registerd ,no one knew he was a ****ing nutter and he went on to murder five year old kids .Making guns legal to the public again , great idea NOT ? Anyone who thinks this is a good idea is a retard .Dunblane was horrible and was a wake up call to this Country ,the USA has just had four of these High School shootings in less than a week ,it's America's problem even though most of their own public dont seem to think they have one So just to say we let you Yanks enjoy your guns and we over here will still try to keep as many of them off the streets as we can .I pretty much agree with what Gavman has has said on this subject .Some of our laws in the UK are shitty with too many child abusers and sicko's getting light sentances or getting no jail time ,but arming the public is not a good idea and thankfully it wont happen .

You want simple peace of mind ,buy a shotgun and join a clay club .

Are you counting absolute values or per head of capita? It's also a fact that crime is higher in states with anti-gun legislation.

if only those poor peace loving cossacks had been armed, why they might have survived the purges..oh no, wait, they were the most heavily armed ethnic group in white russia, and got completely exterminated

armed citizens kill other citizens- that's it

do you honestly believe that a few survivalist gun nuts would do any more than mildly inconvenience the federal army?
I think you need to research your history wrt communism in Russia. The people were not anti-communism in the beginning as they were sick of being slaves to a Russian elite. That is why communism took hold. The communist revolution in Russia was actually aided by and plotted under a Labour government in this very country. Not much has changed really. There's still a street somewhere called Stalin Street and other streets named after the fathers of communism.

GAVMAN...are you serious?

Dude, your killing me. Typical liberal avenue. Flood the thread with worthless info that no one in their right mind would take time to respond to in whole.

Please, live in your wonderful, dope induced nirvana. There is a difference between our countries...for one, there was never any kind of punishment like drawing and quartering, or the rack (or countless other sadistic punishments) in the US...you act like your Govt is so much better than every other country...just look at how your Govt used to punish people who didnt swear allegiance to the King...our Constitution (and the right to bear arms) comes from the knowledge of what can happen when tyrannical governments rise.

Hope ya catch some other suckers with your name calling childish antics!
