Toyota MR-2 Roadster with 2zz engine swap

hello all

very reluctantly, i'm selling my black 51 reg MR-2 roadster

you may be familiar with her if you followed the Rogue engine conversion on the MR-2 roadster forum:MR2 Roadster Owners Club ::

toyota make two 1.8 engines for the celica, the 138bhp and 190bhp versions with the less powerful fitted to the standard celica and mr-2, and the more powerful to the 190 celica and current lotus exige. the standard car weighs the same as an exige

she's been looked after by Rogue Systems throughout her time with me, as well as undergoing a 2zz engine and six speed gearbox conversion, together with an apexi power fc ecu (and hand controller) approx 5,000 miles ago

car has run faultlessly since and is currently with rogue for a pre-sale service. please contact Patrick Moertell (MD of Rogue) with any queries regarding the conversion or vehicle in general. she will also be available for viewing there. Rogue are the pre-eminent mr-2 tuners in the uk with their own one make race series and provide 'works' supported hire and drive racers, as well as building the first ten second mr-2 in the uk, seen at totb this year and last

vehicle higlights:
2zz engine and six speed gearbox with an uprated celica clutch. good for 190bhp as standard, up from 138bhp with the 1zz lump and 5 speed box.
my car also benefits from an rsr exhaust, apexi air filter and apexi power fc ecu.
tein adjustable coilovers, rotal slipstream 17" rims, with (just replaced) toyo t1R tyres and (fresh) carbotech brake pads
this car is very quick and immensley tractable, due to it's new gearbox conversion providing superbly well judged ratios
it really is a joy to drive, well balanced, fantastic handling and just about the perfect b-road weapon. and a weapon it is- this car is a MUCH more serious undertaking than a standard, asthmatic roadster, with the same power to weight ratio as a lotus exige
other points:
factory stereo upgrade to sony cd player and component speakers
keyless entry,
factory alarm immobiliser
red cloth seats
recent four wheel laser alignment, set to values advised by this forum (took two visits to get perfect)

this car has been much loved and well maintained- i can't believe i'm actually selling her, but i need a 4x4 to tow the gtr and to cope with the winter conditions at my new home, a smallholding in scotland

so best offer over £8000 secures

kind regards
gav

Ahhh.... That is a car and a half without a doubt...
If I get some free cash... I will bite it OFF your hand!!!

Sadly I don't... I bet this car won't hang around for too long... Best of luck!

cheers bud

she is one hell of a car, working nicely within herself and all ready for a single gt28r turbo....

(to make a safe 350bhp on standard toyota internals)

at which point she'll be a serious contender on the quarter mile, as well as the handling course

but that'll be for the next owner to decide

ps
she hasn't been near a track so far, just a few b-roads

Have to stay N/A this car I think...

This is how Toyota should of made it, but they chicken out because they are not sure if spotty teen with loads of daddy's money won't kill himself in it. The first time I saw this done was by Garage Spirits in Japan and it tore most car a new rear end in the GT200 Togue Series on Hot Version!!!

It should be all the car a Lotus should be, with the reliability and servicing of a Toyota... LOVE IT!
