Can't give give you first hand advice but many consider the C2S to be the pick of the crop amongst the Porker world (GT3s aside). Apparently the 2WD steering is nicer than the 4WD cars.

I'd imagine that the 996 represents the better investment and could be more easily tuned if such is your desire.
