Layth,

hope it works out for you fella Would really be interested to see what limitations you will find on the car.

Umar.

LADY drivers. Draw a little diagram on a Post-it showing the position of the hand brake and gearstick, and stick it to your dashboard. This will save you having to look for them when the lights go green.

I'm interested in how you'll get round the mph conversion issue.

Was a nice time to spend Christmas in TK and going to the auction to choose from some 30 odd for sale!

Have to say a big thanks to my good friend Ryo and vehicle exporter in Shinjuku (if you're reading this) for being so patient!

Layth - I live in Shinjuku, here in Tokyo. Could you please PM me with your exporter's contact info, I need someone here to export some things to the UK and the US, would like to see what he can do for me.

Also - regarding the 30 odd for sale you mentioned - were any of the R35s being sold at a discount?

Congrats on your purchase, hope you enjoy!

Thanks.

Aki

I'd like to know as well if the buttons and screen are in Japanese text? I saw one a couple of days ago and the multi-function screen was in Japanese, pretty hard to understand all the features...

tks

I guess these might be the downsides of being so eager!

I'm not sure I'm brave enough to import one sans warranty. Fingers crossed it won't break? What happens if it does break?

The crude method is just to place a sticker over the speedo converting each number from km/h to mph. Of course the car still measures distance in km's so its a bad fix really, but good enough for the SVA.

The best method is to figure out how the car measures speed and place a suitable converter between the dial and whatever it uses to measure the speed. On my old subaru it was a mechanical device from the gearbox, but I'm told the later subaru's use an electrical method. Either way I'm sure the device will be available in due course, as it is for every other jap import out there.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the kind words and apologise for delayed reply, been away with work.

Re warranty etc, well. I understand it is a risk however - the car has been driven and checked over in Japan so that said it should run fine. Also, I only ever am able to drive the car a handful of times a year. Come 15 months, when the other tuners/garages are familiar then I really should have no worries regarding anything which needs doing to the car. I suspect even sooner as I'm sure the main garages and the likes of Abbey etc will be dealing with the R35 rather soon. If something major was to go wrong, then there is always the option of sending it back over and have that done.

The car will be de limited when being prepped for registration so that should eliminate the problem of not being able to drive it hard.

Re those that have PM'd me. I shall reply as soon as possible. Just got page'd to report back to LHR, ahh.. the joys of bizjet,
