Good Stereo place in Surrey?

Anyone know of a good stereo place in Surrey? Near Guildford would be a bonus.

I am having probs with my front speakers which don't appear to be connected to my amp anymore and I am after a smallish sub.

I've done a couple of installs so could take a look for you first if you like? Would save you spending cash for them to diagnose the fault - I've also got an oscilloscope to set the amp gains properly

If you're looking for a smallish sub it might be worth considering the Genesis 6x9" subs which are designed to go on the parcel shelves of saloons etc (a sub in a saloon/coupe's boot never sounds as good or as loud as in a hatchback) You have the added bonus of not losing any boot space or weighing the car down with a heavy MDF box

I'll have to wait until I get the car back from mapping in a few weeks though.

No probs matey
I'm over in Acton, but a good mate of mine lives in Esher so not a million miles from you, I'm over there quite a bit (well, he does shoot a bit of glamour photography as well as cars, and its always nice to be able to perve at hot naked girls!)
Don't want anything, apart from maybe some skyline advice once I've got mine

These are the 6x9 subs

Hi Matey

would your oscilloscope help pinpoint why an install with two amps and a large sub, kept losing power to all of the speakers inside the car, but just left the sub running ?

Robbie

Yeah it could - try turning the gains on the speaker amp down, you might be sending it a clipped signal from the head unit which would make the amp go into protection

Ok, can I have that again in 'simpleton'

The problem is only recent, so the system was working fine for at least three years (as my mobile disco at JAE proves) but seems to happen now when I go over a bump or turn left ????? so I thought something was loose. I've taken out the head unit and checked the connections to the amps etc., but the intermittant fault is still there.

As you can see, much to the consternation of Moley and Snowey

Hmm if it only happens when you hit a bump etc, I'd check the earth from the speaker amp and make sure its secure - failing that one of the speaker wires might be damaged/exposed etc

The gains are set by 2 dials or screws depending on what amp it is

Hi Mate I use Ian Bannings in Guildford in wallnut tree close near the station -

I've used them for many years now and they are very good and reasonably priced, details are as follows:- ianbannings.com

If you mention my name you may even get a discount, as I have used them so much in the past!

Are they still going?? Everyone I knew in Guildford used to take thier cars there to have stereos fitted and I am going back to the 80's!!! they had a good rep then so I imagine its a much better setup now.

All sorted.

Ian Bannings were really helpful. It was indeed the gains on the amp - which for some reason had been changed - and it's now back to normal.

Had the dodgy old sub wires removed while they were at it. £20 all in and they made me a brew while I waited.
