is it just mine or are they all just a bloody pain!!
bought mine to run about in whilst the skyline gets sorted for its respray. first the abs light stayed on, went through all the steps in the manual, stripping out interior etc to get to the abs ecu, only to find it was a bloody wheel sensor. the light wasnt doing what the manual said it would do if the sensor packed up, anyway, got second hand sensor for 20 quid so not too bad. untill i went to fit it!, every single bolt snapped then the old sensor sheared in half leaving the rest stick in the hub. 8 hours, 4 drill bits, 2 cheap drill, 2 screwdrivers and alot of skin and blood later i get it out, fit the other one with a roofing bolt and cable tie all the wire instead of messing with the rest of the bolts. went in for its mot today, failed on split steering gator, got replacement, thought 'will only take 1/2 hour to whip off track rod end and fit this rubber thing' how wrong could i be!! trackrod end would not seperate from the hub! i ended up snapping the balljoint seperator by tightening it too much. eventually got it off after 3 hours but now the rubber is all stuffed and i hit it so hand with the hammer it 'caved in' where the threads are and the hole for the split pin. now problem i thought, give car shop a ring and pick one up later. 'sorry no model listed' god damn bloody car!!! eventually found other cars with same trackrod end so they can get one but not untill monday. oh well, will carry on fitting rubber then put tie rod end on on monday, now the bloody rubber is different to the one i took off, it will be made to fit on monday though, im sodded if im getting another one. why do the simplest of jobs piss you off on this car?! wish i had my skyline running, at least that only missfired but everything else was simple to do and not seized! maybe this should be in the rant? lol |

pmsl, glad i dont intend on keeping it! i thought that the 3l twin turbo would give similar performance to the gtr but its nowhere near my 32. yes boost kicks in quicker but then its all over and doesnt really keep going to the red line like the skyline does.
bloody sick of it, at least i didnt pay top dollar for it and it does look nice (ish)! |

Well i think there's a lesson learned there.
If you are going to buy a run about dont buy something that is just as complicated and exotic as the car you are putting your money in to!!! I have a G Reg 205 Diesel that I call Blue Streak, Does about 55 to the gallon! cant get much cheaper than that!! more money to spend on my pride and joy!

GTO's are a nightmare!
Nothing in comparison to the Skyline, but sadly that does mean that i have a GTO to sell ~ anyone want a cheap, economical, reliable and environmentally friendly run around? LOL

We had one some 4 years ago, as a truly mint facelift example which we used as an extra car when filming the "Skylines At Dawn" It was beautiful, but to drive it was just so booooring and uninvolving. I didn't hate it, but out of the Skylines, RX-7, etc. we had there, it was the only one I really didn't want to drive. Come to think of it, nobody did, lol.
Sounds like the one you've bought has seen a few English winters Miguel |

it runs again at last! got the track rod end from car shop and it slipped over first few threads, thought 'crap got wrong one!' got one off internet delivered yesterday, absolutly identical to the one off car shop, (got proper boot aswel while at it). so tried the old one back on and that slipped over the first few threads (why i didnt try that first i dont know but at least i have a spare now) just cant figure out why the steering wheel is not straight, tracking is fine (checked it using trackright) was like that before i strated messing about, though i will slacken off one rod 2 turns and tighten the other 2 turns that should either make it better or worse but keep tracking about right but i cant see any difference.
think ill just take steering wheel off and move round a couple of splines. bloody car! it is a little rusty underneath especially on usuall wishbones etc but the body is imaculate so i really cant understand why EVERYTHING is siezed lol. |
