If I drop my clutch @ 4500 mine will break traction, then again going into 2nd ...

Are you tyres UK spec or Jap spec? ... i.e. no E mark on them. if jap spec they aren't quite so good on our roads.

On the track / airfield days where the grip is good I can launch without any wheelspin .. just point and go .. but on your average road type surface it loses traction, even had it losing going up a hill in 3rd ...

Maybe purchase a skylab off here - I did and it's made it more 4wd.

Does the skylab make for better launching or just cornering?
Mine are UK tyres, i'm glad someone elses skyline breaks traction just like mine.

well, mine's running .9 bar boost (I know, a pittance!) on 17" wheels and good condition jap tyres and it lights up everywhere in the dry and in the wet - oh my gawd - and this with the front torque coming in hard.

It's just the way they are - but I've come from Evo's which are a completely different technology.

Besides, I love leaving black lines coming out of junctions and seeing the look on other motorists faces when they cop your opposite lock attitude!!

now just waiting to be chided for my actions....

yeah - it's the cool thing about the GTR - that it lets you get away with so much - then just as you're heading for the bushes, it says "alright son, enough" and in comes the 4WD.

Had a moment not long after I got it - coming off a hill onto 2 lane motorway (as clear as cars on motorway were stopped @ red light) - so in 2nd gear I floors it as we join and (3 up) we power-slide across both lanes for quite some distance!

passengers were most impressed! (girlfriend was one of em!)

and before anyone chimes in with responsibility blah blah, she comes along for rides in the rally car all the time and trusts I know what I'm doing. cos I do.

mostly
