Anyhoo - the good news!! car is tuned and goes like a cut cat!! Tuner (Andre Simon from Speedtech) came out with the classic quote of the century!!
After 6 or so dyno pulls to check existing fuelling etc I saw him shaking his head... I wandered over to see what was the matter and he says ....
"This is the worst tune I have ever seen. How did you drive this???'
Coming from him, that's quite a statement!
To explain. When I first got the EvoLink G3, I did the installation and had it tuned locally (was short notice) by a "reputable" tuner. He managed to extract 156HP at the hubs.
I was disappointed to say the least, having just spent the best part of $12K on engine and turbo rebuild!!
So - despite having done 3 competitive events in the car - it was tuned like a P.O.S!! Problems resolved today include...
rubbish boost control (now being handled by the Link computer)
Base timing waaaaaay out (so bad that it was firing ATDC on boost!! Andre was surprised my new motor hadn't grenaded itself!!)
wrong plugs (had NGK iridiums @ 6 heat range - now has NGK racing plugs - 9 heat range)
So, next event is 28th of this month - will be interesting!! Took the car for a quick squirt up the road, and boy does it pull!! We made a 60% increase in torque and 90%+ increase in power!! up from 110kw to 205kw at the hubs!!
