Blue Ray rentals in Japan

I just can't believe I can't find a place where to rent Blue Ray? Even the selection currently on sale is pathetic to say the least. I saw more choice over in the US when I was there last over 1 year ago! What is going on in Japan...they come up with new HD formats, they are the builders of 99% of players out there and then when the time comes to buy a film you have a choice of 50 of the crappiest movies ever made! Makes me furious!!

I've had an HD TV and PS3 for 4 months now and I have yet to watch a BR on it!! Makes my blood boil!!

Any specific movie you are looking for? You just want to rent and not buy?
Do you know if region 1 will work in your ps3?

Well of the few BRs I've found that I would buy I have in DVD. Pretty sure BR region 1 don't work on Jap-spec PS3 (the games do but not the movies).

There is alot of issues with Blue ray right now, cost and lack of titles and that most HD TVs dont even support Blue Ray at 24fps/1080 resolution mode, that means blue rays or HD-DVDs will appear juddery on sets that lack this support.

Dino you`re looking inside the wrong shops for the wrong movies . . .

In japan 99% of the japanese Blue Ray releases are in the Snuff, Hardcore, buka**** corner!

It might be that in 2008 also many japanese customers have simply no more the budget to buy silly expensive movies on new mediums . . like it was the case with the LaserDisc in japan over 20 years ago. No sales no Rental.

I've checked those out too Chris Except I prefer to save my 4,000 Yen rather than buying BR porn only to see 1080x1920 HD mosaic! LOL

thats really strange as there are loads in the UK, they are also already out in the blockbuster video hire shops and there is quite an extensive range out in the HMV stores as well.

Really surprised that it isnt more popular in japan.

P.S. the picture on blue ray in 1080p through the ps3 is just simply amazing !!

WTF?! Dino.. HUH?! Can't believe what I am hearing

I thought Blu-ray was major over there?? It must be that people buy them insted of rent.

I have already around 30 of the Blu-ray best sellers in my collection, only good movies and in Japan you find only 50 crappiest movies for rent, WTF??

I think you better buy them, order them from the net or something like I do.

Chris so there are bukkake blu-ray already?
