Go for Southampton - you can get there from Edinburgh or Glasgow on BE.
The airport is just off the M27 which becomes the A27 and takes you all the way to Chichester and from there it's only a couple of miles to Goodwood.
As others have said traffic is murder - when I used to live down there I'd get there at 6am! Unfortunately I haven't managed to get there for the last few years.
