What ever, the car had 100km on the clock and considering the conditionsof air plus X factors made it buhhhhhhh.

Anyway around there are two or three companies, documented in various japanese magazines this month, that dynoed the car at around 510hp each.

I hope it has only 400HP, like this it killed all the competition with a bit of warm air . .

^Was that 510hp at the hubs, wheels or flywheel?

5th gear is 1.001 to 1 . They dynoed in 3rd.

Don't let the dyno numbers turn into a another pen15 measuring contest. They are all new cars, they all put out around the same power. Take the number that it spits out on a particular dyno, and thats around what it will be.

510-530 is at the engine if its stock. If it has mods, it might do that at the wheels.

Simple way to look at "air" and "altitude":

Air has weight and is measured all the way up to the outer limits of the atmosphere. Think of it like a big sea of air. The further you are from the top edge, the more air you have above you, which, in turn, weighs more (more dense). Just like being in the water; the deeper you go, the higher the pressure.

What I'm saying is: Higher altitudes affect the cars performance no matter what the temperature. There's no way around it. No turbo is going to be able to compensate for the atmospheric pressure of where it's being used. It will perform the same, but the levels of power are limited to density of the air it is intaking.

Check all the US drag strip times and you'll see differences from say Texas Motorplex and a strip in Denver, CO.

Gents, it is a fact that the higher you get in altitude the less power you will have. Try draggin 20K over Loveland pass (11K feet)...you WILL notice it!

See the thing is they only have 2000 feet of altitude in the UK, so everything is sea level. And these guys believe some theory about air density vs temp rather than the realities of what we actually see.

Theory vs Reality.

It's definitely a reality. Drove my F150 from Florida (sea level) to Colorado (11,000ft above sea level at points) and my 5.4L V8 pulled like a Vespa up the mountains. I thought something was wrong with my truck.

Climb Mt. Everest without any supplemental oxygen and see how well your body runs.

I remember a funny happening . .lol

VW wanted to show the world how great their Tuareg was. They went with a team to somewhere around Nepal to drive it as high as possible on the highest pass . . . There were 3 bases on the way until the highest pass base. The car collapsed before base 2. (was the V10 Diesel).
Then they were lucky that some of the locals had an old Toyota Landcruiser Diesel to pull the dead Tuareg up to base 3. . . .

Would tuning up your car to run slightly lean at sea level give it any advantage at altitude?

As the air thins, would the air/fuel ratio get richer?

Is that a good time to have a supercharger, turbos and a big intercooler?

Ha Ha, I lived in Colorado Springs for 5 years, 10 years ago which is over 6K foot above sea level, occasionally we would play basketball at the Air Force Academy which is over 7K feet in El. I was in excellent shape at the time and the extra 1K foot was very noticeable...

Yea, if you were running a carbeurated car...todays FI cars automatically adjust timing and fueling for all conditions, including elevation changes.

When I lived in CO we had snowmobiles, depending on where we rode, and the elevation changes it would sometimes be necessary to rejet the carbs on the trail...(the higher you go, the smaller the jet necessarry) now alot of Sleds are FI...much easier!

forced induction definately helps, but it doesnt mean that your immune from the effects of altitude.
