Holden can forget the GTR, the aussi industry looks like cave mans factory against japan, for hightech and productivity . . .

On the other side the Holden are very nice modern looking cars, great engines and cheap price tags, that coupe would defo allow peoples with lower budgets to buy a V8 monster coupe and have a lots of fun, then just hanging posters of M3s and E63AMGs on the bedroom walls . .

Theses cars if sold for a the same price as they sell in Aussi, would make a real impact on EU market . . . .

I allways play with the thought of buying one, great cars for what they stand for.

You never know, HSV with its growing international presence might release a true Nissan GTR fighter. The previous HSV 427 like the GTR was designed to take on the Porsche GT3 and turbo. At the time HSV didnt have an international presence and the Australian market couldn't support an expensive project effectively killing in 427 program.

Was that a pig flying past ?

Holden has one of GM's most advanced, efficient and flexible production line. This line was designed to create a whole range of cars from pickups, sedans, stretched limos, 4 door pick ups, coupes, RWD, 4WD, RHD and LHD cars. Compare the Nissan GTR production line and the more advanced and efficient Holden production line.

The new Fiat factories also look hightech and are hightech, especially their new Diesel engine factories, but that doesn`t change anything positive for Fiat.

The GTR is a masterpiece of engineering, but more then that it is a masterpiece of japanese industry , which again proved they can create world leading hightech for a price none one else is able to achive.

Holden has no industrial capacity to compete on the highlevel of hightech of the new GTR.

Which doesn`t mean they won`t produce a very hightech and brilliant car , it will just be miles away from the GTR.

The main thing holding Holden back has been its very small Australian market, a small market means that they wont have as much $$$ to splash around on development and new technologies. This changed when Holden developed the zeta platform which will underpin the upcoming Camaro, Denali XT and several other RWD GM cars. With this global GM RWD platform Holden can spread costs and introduce new tech allot sooner, an example is the introduction of the new VM Motori turbo-diesel to the commodore lineup ahead of America's Cadillac.

Also Holden would have the engine and suspension covered. Holden has always shared engines with the top of the line corvette including the LS7 ZO6, in time Holden will also acquire the 650hp LS9 ZR1 engine. Suspension wise Holden/HSV already uses a similar Magnaride suspension found in the corvette ZR1, Ferrari 599, Cadillacs and Audi's.

Some examples of cars designed/developed by Holden

GMC Denali XT

Supercharged Holden EFIJY

Camaro (not designed but developed by Holden)

Twin Turbo Holden Torana

Holden Monaro 60

LS1 powerd Elfin Clubman

Supercharged LS1 Elfin Streamliner

I'm not so sure on your thinking there Lux............ Holden are GM remember and they have some amazing talent working there.......

I wouldn't be surprised to see something pretty good come out of there soon........... I agree I don't think it'll be ultimately faster than the GTR, but some of the stuff shown above styling wise, I love......

Another classic case of 2 totally different brands being compared........it's always asking for disaster.

FFS, a GM fan boy vs a Nissan fan boy - neither of you work in a production plant to comment on what is more "high tech" or superior.

Since when did high tech = superior ?

You only have to look at Russian V American technology to realise that big money and high tech doesnt allways get the results, Wheras low tech and simple approach can sometimes be very rewarding.

Bear in mind GM is allmost 3 times bigger than Nissan too
