as a recovering z addict i have plenty of info for you. while the 240z was the most desirable model of the s30 chassis, the early model 260z is almost exactly like the 240zs body wise. the earlier the model z you get, the lighter it will be. This car will force you to become a fabricator as there are not too many bolt on performance parts like coilovers etc.
Rust will be an issue depending on where you buy your car from. Main areas of rust on the z are: battery tray, front doglegs(behind front wheel arches), rear hatch, frame rails, and floorpans.
As you probably know, the Zs have endless potential when it concerns the motors you can put in the cars. depending on your planned use of the car one thing to keep in mind is the aero of the Z is lacking. the headlight buckets and large/vertical firewall causes the nose of the z to lift at excessive speeds.
like bentaylor said, check out hybridz or if u have any other questions let me know
