260Z Opinions
Hey everyone,
I need some opinions on the 260Z, Zs are pretty new to me, especially the classics. I found one at a ok price, but my goal is not to keep it stock, but replace the engine etc with something else (im posting here guess what i would pick), this would probably be MY project car, as in im going to see if i can do this my self, would be the first car ive tried to do something like this to also. Anyway, im just wondering what people think of the 260Zs you hardly hear of them, its mainly the 240 or the 280, anyway let me know Cheers everyone. |

What type of issues, i know the engine was detuned, but seeing that im not keeping the stock engine, it doesnt bother me at all. so long as the body had no real issues.
Ive gotta buy some books on these things the 2+2 were not so nice looking apparently?? |

Thats cool thanks
I ca see why the 2+2 isnt that loved, the roof line makes it look like a citroen, ive found a 280Z too, but wondering about the body, probably rusting to bits, if im looking to buy, can you recommend me things to look for? Whole new animal like the common places for rust etc. |

Thanks a lot Simon, i dont want to bother anyone right now, as im still looking in to how much time i have to dedicate to this idea, cause i want to try and do it myself, but the more i read the more interested i get, but also realize at the scale of the project (dont think of these things as you day dream). The VQ35 idea will be a serious challange, the RB has been done quite a lot i see but i wanted something NA for the car. anyway, ill give you a shout if anything happens, right now really i jst want to know what to look for when picking a donor car, as i dont want half the battle to be with a rusted chassis

Depends on how much you will mod the car though doesnt it, Any problems with the original design can be easily sorted if you know about them as you mod.
Only real issue is corrosion, More importantly, How you are going to get rid of it. I think they all like to set the engine bay on fire (Including the 300), A problem that will be sorted with a different engine anyways as you will no doubt be keeping the injection system of the donar engine. 240 Rust repair vids This is a 240 in the vid, But it will give you an idea of both where the rust is, And insight into how the car is assembled (or dismantled in this case) Last edited by Marky_GTSt; 2nd March 2008 at 10:55 AM. |

Cheers for that i watched the Hugo project a while ago really amazing project, as far as the body restoration goes, and he is still at it now!
Yeah right now its mainly finding a chassis that is not swiss cheese Look at some California cars but with the sea water etc im sure they will be questionable. Try and see if i can find a Texas car. |
