Canon (pronounced Canyon) is a nice, short stretch of road that runs up the floor of a small canyon or barranca -- and *very* tempting to let it fly on... but unfortunately it is *right* in the middle of the sleepy little town of Point Loma in San Diego... about 75 yards from where the wreck happened is the end of the 25mph school zone for Cabrillo Elementary... judging from the skid marks, it "looks" like the driver went through the school zone heading up Canon and nailed the throttle around the first turn (which has a small pothole/depression right where your right front tire would be if you hit the apex that you have to avoid). I'm guessing/hoping that he just snap spun the car, hit the curb and went up the cliff wall and landed flat on the roof... hoping because that would mean it wasn't a high speed incident.
Unfortunately that path would have taken him right through a wide bike lane that is used by kids, old folks and commuters... there's a big chunk taken out of the coping where the car hit...
If the driver was coming down the hill... well then they were probably going really fast, lost it, spun across oncoming traffic and were just about to go into a school zone crosswalk at who knows what speed...
Sometimes natural selection works...
