Mercedes-Benz 300SL

this car was in the shop while they were working on my water pump leak. The restoration on this car is goddamned immaculate - either that, or it's been vacuum sealed for 40 years. There's been a slew of these concours-quality old M-Bs coming into Korea, but this is the first 300SL, and the thing that really, really got me was the luggage. Not only were the seats brand spanking new (or appeared to be), the luggage looks like it was made yesterday. The car was really done to the last screw.

I wonder - who's doing these restorations? The quality is astonishing - this thing was newer than new, and the doors closed with such a precise thud, there's no way this car is 40 years old!

And no, we didn't drive this one!!

That is truly gorgeous

The seats looks like it's made of the same stuff as the seats in my dads -72 350SL. They also look close to brand new, so I guess that it's just very very high quality and a good owner who takes care of the car.

I think it's beyond that - the classic M-Bs that have been coming into Korea lately have all been of this quality - 100% original, everything looks brand new. Like there isn't even dust in the engine bay, let alone a drop of oil anywhere. Cleaner than my, well anything I own!

So I'm sure it's restoration work, I just wonder who's doing it and where (probably Germany but really, could be anywhere)

I was just talking about the seats

I guess that the owner would have to take very good care of a car like this to stay alive.
I'm sure the local MB club would seriosly hurt the owner if he didn't

I've only seen one or two (possibly the same) of these in the flesh and they both looked like new cars.

My old boss at a Merc garage had one.I Don't rember it looking as nice as this one but immaculate all the same.
The gullwing door SL would probably get you quite a nice house if you sold it, Or better a nice selection of supercars for your drive
