I must say you guys at R.I.P.S are very good at your trade. It has been pure joy to see this project come to fruition. The work you do is nothing less than beautiful.

I'm imagining that container somewhere on the deck of a ship will it be on the top of a big stack of containers or with a few tons of other containers stacked on top - not sure which is worse...

..it'll be fine.

Well there are a few things to consider....

Have you driven a car with this power before?
Bit of a high pressure situation to learn to drive the car....no?
Have you driven with a sequential before? Can be broken quite easily with the wrong technique

Wouldn't like to see all that time, money and effort have gone in to it and then a problem occur

I'm very confident Jeff will take to it like a duck to water, he might get a bit of a fright at first but he'll be chasing 9s in no time I'm sure.

Its called learning. I don't think Ludders will have the wick turned right up on the first run .Everyone has to start from somewhere Ludders in the last spec ran a 11 .I think his fisrt prorities will be getting used the car and dialing the chasis in. With the amount of time & money Ludders has thrown at this R34 I would imagine he will surround himself with the right people to get the R34 sorted with least amount of issues.

God so many Haters of late on this forum .

Number 1 - I'm a realist....not a hater.
and for 2 - is TOTB the right place to "learn"

I appreciate all the components that have to come together to make a car like Ludders' - believe me

but thanks for the constructive post............................

Rob - I hope you're right

No never used one before. Got any tips?? How do you change gear with your sequential??

Mind you if the box does break the score will be:

Rob 1 : Jeff 1

Unfortunately mine is still in Japan sat at OS as my bottomless pit ran out some time ago. The reason i mention the gear changes is because the person i consider the expert on them has intimated that used incorrectly they WILL break. Not sure what the knack is but when i get my 'box maybe you can give me some pointers

Its been a great project and I must once again thank Jeff for trusting us with his pride and joy, it has really been a great 5 months with alot of new ideas and designs being used for the first time.

The first and only run at the drags was a mixture of good and bad, it was a crap drive on my part (Bloody thing took me by surprise big time ) but 9.7 is not a bad time considering we had no time for wheel alignment, it was on old stock suspension and I was suppose to be taking it easy to see how it handled and I bailed early due to nearly crossing the center line.

The gearbox we thought would be up to the task lasted about 4 hours in total and broke during accelleration testing in 5th:

A OS88 sequential has been ordered and will be installed in the UK once the car gets back.

We weighed it complete as it will be raced with stereo, CD, dvd player, front and rear seats, all interior panels, hood lining, carpets etc and it came in at 1740kg with 20 liters of fuel:

Here she is in the conatiner before being tied down and shipped out :

The Drag-R has been chosen for the cover and a featue in an upcomming issue of NZ performance car magazine, I'll scan it and post it up here once its out,

Rob

an amazing build, been a great read following this thread.

out of interest, was the car shippedbox, as per picture?

or was a healthy amount of bubble wrap and foam thrown in there for some extra protection?

When we load a single car they are tied down for lateral control and covered with a quality car cover.

When we load 6 cars into a 40ft container its alot more work but the 4 or 5 40fter's we've done with 6 cars have all arrived in Europe safely.

I can't wait to see this car run, I won't make any public predictions but I'm sure it will go very quick. Couldn't you have put it on a plane to get it here quicker? LOL.

I want to see it in the flesh, and hear it on full chat.
