Jeff won fastest non tuner 4wd drag time at 10.42s 144mph not a bad result at all considering first time to have driven the car and stifling heat. :-)

Hmm you can hear the missed gear thing happen here:
YouTube - Event - Skyline 1/4 Mile Racing @ Elvington

Was there something wrong with the gearbox setup, or just a case of slipping up and skipping a gear? Looks like its got a fair mission on until the missed gear though!

As others have already said was quality to see it run so well, especially as ut was straight off the boat.

I managed to have a good look round the engine bay on the way down to the noice check. Was amazing to see it in the flesh and the picture do it no justice, a true piece of car art

Most of the Skylines seemed to struggle on the start line.

Lee in the Silver R34 GTR running the RIPS 001 RB30/26 (T04Z) only ran a 11.4 from memory with a 60ft of 1.9s. He only had 3 runs (dont no why) and on 2 of them using the nitrous and higher boost the car did not perform.

Shame about the Lemon, was looking forward to watching a few runs.

Baz

I wondered what method they was using, but I noticed prior to one run he needed to be reminded how, i guess its not just a simple switch?

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.

All I can say at this stage is the RIPS Drag-R is better than it's driver!!

For whatever reason, I did not make one clean pass all day. It was boiling hot, my new super duper shifter was too sensitive so I could not touch the stick unless changing gear which was impossible for me to break a lifetime habit and keep my hand away from it.........so everytime I put my hand on it I got a misfire.

So lets see what did I do.............??

I launched in two wheel drive and smoked two good lines as I headed for the other lane!!

I launched before I had enough boost, pulled away with my hand on the 'too sensitive' shifter and got a big misfire before I had gone ten feet.

I did a burn out with the windows open and filled the car with smoke and was asked to stage the car when I could not even see the windscreen.

I tried changing into third gear like a man with a broken arm so never found it!

I tried twice to do a burn out in four wheel drive with the line lock on (and was successful once lol)..........and so on.....

Now the good news; the car.......when I launched in rear wheel drive my 60ft time was 2.30 (oops) I switched it to 'normal' as quickly as I could and ripped off after the car that left me behind. I caught it and passed it just before the line with a terminal speed of 144mph. Not to bad for an 11.83 second run eh??

My best time was 10.42 and my best 60 ft was 1.600 on a set of Mickey Thomson Street Radials which were only ONE year old (I ordered a new set months ago but they have not arrived). I did not use my three year old set, they stayed in the Stagea.

I did not use Nos on any launch so there is loads to come. I only used Nos from 3rd gear except the 11.83 run when I hit it in second.

It was a very big learning curve for me on Sunday and to win the fastest (privately entered) 1/4 mile 4wd award was a real bonus.

I am hoping to get some practice at Santa Pod next weekend and then compete in the HKS Series at Santa Pod the week after. Hopefully by then I will know how to drive!

I would like to thank everyone for their support and hope you can make it to Santa Pod to watch the progress.

(ps Rob @ RIPS told me if I don't sort out my act soon he will come over here and drive the bloody thing himself (LOL))

Cheers...............Jeff
