Auto Wiper. Bug or Mistake?

Anyone out there managed to make the auto wiper work? Looks like there is a wire and a sensor going to the top of the windscreen but the wiper stalk does not have an option on it. Only Mist, INT, LO and HI. Did Nissan make a mistake with the wiper stalk? I'll ask the dealer today but just wondering if anyone had figured it out yet?

Apparantly this is a function initially only to be released on UK models, an "extra" provided by Nissan for its UK customers but apparantly to be unlocked in Japan and the USA as global warming continues to increase rainfall in these countries.

They will only turn on if the GPS gets the info from the weather station
saying that is raining. So, unless you are in Japan, then tough luck.
Perhaps because it was raining so much, it was a clear indication for
you stay in so as not void your warranty.

You know the horrible truth is some of these bits of banter will end up as "internet truths" on other sites

Try putting it onto "INT". This is sometimes the setting for other Nissans that have auto wipers. Then move your hand over the sensor and see if the wipers work!!

How to get Auto wipers to work...............

Step 1. Lean over and open glove box
Step 2. Reach in and grab hold of Owners manual
Step 3. Open Owners manual to index page
Step 4. Look down index for 'Wiper control' section, and note page number
Step 5. Turn page to correct page number
Step 6. Read contents of page and follow instructions on how auto wiper mode is activated.

Step 7. Realize it's all in Japanese and start lessons again.
Step 8. Listen to someone who actually owns an R35 GT-R

Step 10. Look at the pictures and try and figure it out.
Step 11. Wonder why Japanese manuals always depict western style people.
