GT-R Seats

Hello everyone,

I'm a little concerned about the size of the standard Euro spec seats. I recently had the pleasure of sitting in my first GT-R at the New York Motorshow (see my avatar) and the seats were snug but usable.

I got home and read somewhere on this forum that the American spec seats are oversized(!) so just how much smaller are the Euro seats?

I'm slightly concerned that I won't be able to fit! Recaro's are sometimes an issue...

Thank you in advance!

Si

I am abt 6 2 ish and weigh 106kg and the JDM seats fit me fine. SNUG but I wouldn't have it any other way, especially if I am bringing it to track.

If you talk about narrow seats in the shoulder area I know what you mean, it can get annoying on long rides. The new Golf V GTI seats are very narrow too and when I lean my back right into the seat the shoulders are bend slightly forwards and it feels uncomfortable. I think US Spec seats are a little oversized in the waist and upper leg area, since the average US citizen is considered to weigh slightly more than the rest of the world.

The stock seats don't look bolstered at all.

Looks like the old school porsche 911 setas ...except with holes for your harness.

Thanks for the responses guys.

The seats at the New York Motorshow were tight around the shoulder and upper back region. I basically couldn't buy a Honda S2000 because I didn't physically fit in the seats.

I'm 6' and around 100-105kg depending upon time of year and training schedule.

How easy would it be to replace the seats if electrics are involved?

Seat Height

Can anyone tell me how the seat height compares with other cars, for example 997 or E46 M3.

The 997 is nice and low compared to the M3, which I found to be far too high even in the lowest position (I am about 5´11) and I never really got used to it- it felt as if one was sitting "on" the car instead of "in" the car.

Is the driver's seat of the GT-R somewhere in between the two or even higher than the M3's?

Thanks,

MArtin

I found the seats to be quite high but I really didn't get a chance to adjust them properly.

The car itself was on a rotating platform and they stopped it in order for me to sit in the car. I had limited time and a HUGE audience all of which were complaining that I was allowed to sit in it but they weren't!

They only let me sit in it as I had a copy of my deposit with me and could prove that I was buying one.

Spectator: "Hey, why can he sit in it?"
Manager: "Because he's bought one..."

Best. Moment. Ever.

Think the seatheight is the same as the new M3,i found it far to high for me(and im not that tall, around 1.75 meters)

If its not possible to lower the stock seats(did that on my Evo Wagon and its fine) then i will replace the seats with recaro SPG´s or Bride Gias

Well you have a year to do something about it, maybe some experimental bone-shortening operations are in order?

the american versions of sports cars often get bigger seats because of all the fat people.

we always get screwed, for example, the STI. american seats have BARELY any bolster support at all, and the jdm seats are a tight perfect fit.

the diff is like a woman's vag before and after child birth

STi seats are not the same as jdm?

What other sports car seats are not the same? Evos?
S2000s?

I know the Acura integra type r didn't have any recaros.

American GTis get different seats as well compared to eurospec.

Americans are fat ass

Evo 8 JDM had wider seats than Evo 7 JDM. I believe the Evo 8 model was the first Evo to be sold in the US, so strictly speaking the seats are the same for both US and JDM. But they did widen it from the 7 onwards.

Not sure if STI was the same.

The evo 8 was the first car Mitsubishi made to sell it worldwide over official dealers.......so they made the seats more comfortable as they wanted to sell as much cars as possible.........
