Yep , I think that tree companies competed to get the contract, the german, a japanese and an american. The german won as they had the fairest price, the japanese one sunk after with the bubble burst in 1990.

What is nice with the design of this engine is that it is probably one of the best TT S6 engines in world and that quality was achieved with combining knowledge and "know how to do" of many companies around the world. That's the main achievement of the thing. . . then one maker trying to make every thing on their own , because the chief engineer heads are to proud to out source jobs on the main frame production . . .
