Quote from a previous thread
Turbo lag - turbo response - real or imagined - FreshAlloy.com Forums ![]() Pay attention to the Blue line - that's stock. Black line - a pair of 2530's on an R34. At no point do they make less power than stock turbos from 3000rpm on (below boost threshold). Look at the orange line. A pair of 2860-5 turbos, the famed '2530 equivalents'. Also at no point from 3000rpm on do these ever make less power than stock, or even stock with the boost cranked up to 1 bar.

wasn't there a debate over 2530s being more powerful than 2860-5s? guess that chart puts that debate to bed - 2860-5s rule
![]() I buy the chart - there are other factors of course, but IIRC Tyndago put that chart together to give some kind of meaningful comparison.

You mean apart from the fact that 2510s made more power at every rpm apart from a small section where they are very similar??

plus, 450whp is a bit low for both 2530s and 2860-5s.

Nice chart ! Now you now have the Imperical data right in front of you, select the turbo's that you think best suit you and the direction for your cars future, I love the graphs. Thanks.

If you dont have a new map or ECU then you will be limited to what the standrd car has, dont increase the boost at all until you get it maped. The standard ECU runs rich, but not enough for new turbos.

I would use a power FC, as its a direct replacement, and gives you full control, cost is not much and there is alot of people doing the maps. you get them on here for 300 to 400 pounds.

nothing is off the shelf, but you may be able to get a conservative map done and just upload it to the ECU. But you will be on the max of the fuel system, injectors and pump very quick, new turbos just allow you to push that boost a little with piece of mind.

Upgrading turbos without doing the MAFs, ECU, and injectors (plus fuel pump at a minimum) is suicide.

500 or nearly 400 at the wheels is high ! on standard injectors, but the MAF may if working well may be up to it.
