aha I see lol! well the old video took me about 5.5months which isn't bad considering I assigned myself 6months. I know that seems a long time but that includes modelling both vehicles (which were the first 2 vehicles I ever modelled in 3d too lol) and all the animation, rendering, lighting and compositing. I also did it whilst working down south on a motion picture for 7months lol so I were being woke up at 3.50am by computer telling me its finished rendering one layer so I can set it up to render another - I were sooooo tired haahaha! Still it got me the job I'm in at the moment so I cant gripe I guess
and yes I know what you mean about painting weights - it can be an utter nightmare BUT if you've fiddled with stuff like softimage XSI it makes such easy work of it in a fully non-destructive manner - you can model a character, texture him, rig him, add a dozen blendshapes and when the director comes in and says "make his nose bigger, his mouth wider and his ears smaller" you dont have to do a full rework of the character and all the rigging and wotnot
I'll do some colour variations on the car once its more closely modelled - its just default grey for the moment to make it clearly visible - I'm all for midnight purple myself... Its the only colour
