K-sport coilovers
Hi guys! anyone used the K-sport coilovers for the R33 GTR?? im thinking seriously about getting some...either those or tein superstreet.
Basically looking for adjustables with a comfort factor not a million miles away from stock.... (for country b-road blasts). cheers, Ben. |

K-Sports have dropped from their original 13(!) kg/mm front springs to 9.8 - but it's still hardly what I would call 'not a million miles from stock', and the quality of the Teins will be better.
Tein superstreet or Nismo S-Tune sound more like what you're looking for. |

i got tein superstreet and they are far too soft IMO, im currently changing (again sigh) to the mono flex which has spring rates of 7 and 7
the superstreet has 5 and 4 which make the car bottom out too easily when going down country lanes at a quick pace. Soft isnt always the answer for country roads.... |

When you say 'bottom out' do you mean against bump stops or because the car / exhaust etc is too low?
I think the mono flex will be a nice package but anything stiffer and you will start to lose grip on the country roads around here! |

I am using the D2 RS kit... and yes, they are F9.8/R7.6 I think.
It isn't a soft ride, thats for sure, but then it isn't very very hard either. Just acceptable on the road, and great on the track.

I raised mine to above STD GTR ride height and they still had catching issues, just too soft for any sporty car IMO. I would go for 7kg minimum front and rear otherwise you may as well just buy std nissan suspension |

research is showing that a spring rate of around 7-8 front and rear is best for bumpy roads whilst maintaining braking and accelerating qualities on bumpier tarmac...
so Tein flex or Nismo S-Tune is looking like the answer here.... ![]() |

I've gone from 9kg tein HR's to s-tunes and the s-tunes are a million miles more comfortable than the teins, and don't really seem to have much less in the way of roll etc.
Very happy with them. You can have my old teins if you want something firmer heh ![]() |

Assuming that there is damping range adjustment available then you can stick any spring rates on you want. Phone up any coil-over spring manufacturer and they'll sell you some for maybe £50 a set (haven't looked in ages so this might be out of date).

You guys are aware that the K-sport R33 GTST won the last round of the EDC Drift championship right? And that k-sport have several 200sx's running good times in Time Attack and the like? Also - the importer Apex Performance is very good. Ok - they are stiff yes - but alot of people seem to think its taiwanese tat - it may be from taiwan but it is not tat!!!
If you buy teins - they'll break. And when they break, Tein UK do not stock spare parts so they will have to import them which will mean you will be without shocks for like a month??? Not good. I know several people with Teins that have had them break in one way or another from leaking to clunking - and I dont know that many people so thats an unimpressive track record.Course you can't really go wrong with the Nismo S-tunes - proven again and again over the years. May be a tad soft though? Butuz Last edited by Butuz; 20th May 2008 at 03:29 PM. |
