No problem Jason.

Those were not my exact words since im not like that. Reading back my post it comes across as me having an attitude with them which wasnt the case. The two rear shocks were leaking with no play so to me it looked as though it could have been an easy repair. Also the fact that after the 7 weeks i was told that they needed some special tool to rebuild the shocks that only the Japanese branch had. I thought that was very strange for them to tell me that and why not say that when i made my initial enquiry??

I would rather have paid almost £700 for the new(ish) set than pay up to £500 to rebuild the rear two only.

Anyway, the dealings i had with them even before they looked at my suspension was poor.

Personally, I'd never buy Tein or Leda suspension ever again.

I was stupid enough to fit my Legacy Wagon with Tein suspension. Biggest mistake ever. Total junk, absolutely useless! Never ever buy Tein when there are so many better suspension makers around

so whats the best suspension setup for around 1k then ? im after a balance of track and b-road work so around the 7kg front and rear spring rates are ideal....

I have the full EDFC kit which is why i was going to go for tein flex but if they are no good then i will sell the EDFC kit on and go for a complete different setup.

Any help is appreciated guys

Nismo for sensible money.

Ohlins for serious money.

Nismo R tune then, if its for track.

I didn't find the S-tune HA's too soft for occasional track and they were absolutely perfect for the road. If you're using proper track tyres then the S Tunes would be innapropriate I feel. For me the tyres were the weak link on track.

I had good experiences with the HKS Hipermax II's on a supra, great balance between road and track. Perhaps someone might comment on the Skyline, they're a good quality piece of kit.

I'm glad you're in agreement Dino, it's not just me then!!

I found Hypermax too hard on 33. Better on a 34 I've driven. I have UK Tein Flex on my 33 and it's great for road and track work. Not absolutely ideal for either, but a very good compromise.

I hope people are remembering that most coilovers and not designed to just be fitted to lower the car. The threaded sleeve is there to adjust weight on each corner as coilovers are meant to be fitted and set-up on corner weights.

On the more expensive set-up the bottom of the coilover body is usually threaded too and that is for the cars height adjustment.

Most people are not aware of this so their coilovers are fitted incorrectly. If lowered too much the shocks will fail.

Just fitted Tein Mono flex's to my 32 GTR. 7kg/mm front and rear springs. Firm but fine on the road. Damping feels more sophisticated than the budget coilovers I've used in the past. Haven't experienced them on a trackday yet.

Was tempted by Bilstein PSS9's but the Teins came with pillowball top plates and I thought the Tein standard spring rates would be better suited to trackdays than the softer PSS9's. Also managed to get Teins with EDFC for less money than the Bilsteins.

Snap, I had Ohlins and they are useless for the road, good on track, crap on road. The Tein Superstreet made a huge different on the road and have been great for me now for well over a year. I think the biggest issue with all suspension is making them suit your current setup and the type of roads you drive. I drive mainly bad B-roads and the Tein SS suits these but the Ohlins was better on smooth A roads and roundabouts but a right hand full on broken B-roads,

Horses for courses and all that.

I got Ohlins. Bit too hard for the road. Not had it on a track yet lol. Next year when funds allow. But i do like them. Think its down to what you want.

Susp

Ive got TEIN Superstreet on the GTT at the mo.

I think it is more about setup. If you reduce the damping on the SS's the handling goes all wallowy and vague. Tighten them up a bit and you have a decent ride (crap b-roads make up alot of my driving as well...) but still firm enough for decent cornering. took nearly 6 months of playing around to find the right settings.

All credit to them but its up to the dealer to take the issue up with Tein not the customer, legally the customer has no contract with the manufacturer

I was dissapointed with Tein UK when i wanted to replace the pair of rear shocks on my car , the fronts had recently been replaced but they would only sell me a set of four shocks and springs not just the pair of dampers i needed .

Tein Super Street are recommended for Fast Road Driving on mildly modified cars, their recommendation sounds about correct. I deal with Tein UK daily, and never come across any faulty parts, apart from the old EDFC Motors that would let ingress of water/dirt seize the motor that has now been resolved with design revision. The quality of their suspension parts is extremely high compared to HKS/Cusco etc.
In terms of customer service, I think Chris is excellent, he's always been very helpful and knowledgeable. Akuda is a very clever guy and has been a huge help with our motorsport program at RC Developments.
I am really surprised you have had trouble dealing with them, I've never known any customers to have a bitter experience with Tein.
Splitting Suspension Kits loses the company money of course, remember, Tein UK are not the manufacturer and are very much in the hands of Tein Japan.

In terms of aftersales support, you'll get a lot further with Tein than you ever would with HKS or Tein.
